Neville immediately walked towards the stables, that were prepared at Finley's mansion to take care of the horses of their guests. He met face to face with the charioteers and several servants of the noble house who were now brushing their horses or simply sitting talking to one another.

He didn't come in a horse-drawn carriage, even though he was a viscount. Neville was a person who didn't like hassle. This evening he left the house with one of his dark brown horses and rode it himself.

"Calm down, calm down," Neville patted his horse on the neck friendly then nimbly climbed on his back. Several coachmen looked at him questioningly. The event wasn't over yet, why would a nobleman leave before the event ended? Some would find it impolite. but Neville couldn't explain because whatever he did was a secret.

The reign of Queen Victoria, England was peaceful and fine. There was hardly any war other than a few rioters on the borders and colonies or in Crimea. But that's only on the surface. Britain and some parts of Europe were facing a threat that was difficult to detect. Humans now had predators. They were present as monsters that could only live by sucking human blood.

The majority consider it just a legend. or fairy tales spoken to frighten little children. Sometimes parents tell their daughters that they are afraid to go out at night. The monsters were called Vampires. Many believed they are just a myth. But Neville and a handful of people in England knew they were real.

Queen Victoria believed they existed. She must protect her people. But she fears the public would question her sanity. Therefore she created a secret special unit that worked directly on the kingdom. Neville was one of the members. They were vampire hunters.

"Did you hear Rufus bark?" a man wearing a white shirt and brown trousers asked. He was now carrying the bridle that bound a stiff, brown-haired german shepherd who looked restless. The mysterious man wore a cloth wrapped around his nose and mouth as if he didn't want to be easily recognized.

"I came right away, I just happened to be at Finley's,"

"Several people are assigned to guard the vicinity of Marquiss Finley's residence. Because crowds of people will attract the attention of hungry vampires," the man said in response.

Vampire hunters used to use dogs to detect vampires. They have the smell of slightly burnt skin and a foul mouth. They never escape the smell of the Queen's trained dogs.

"I'll deal with it now,"

"Not waiting for another agent to come?"

"There won't be time, I hope not all the poor humans are preyed upon,"

"You're not a fighter, you're our doctor. You shouldn't be here."

"We can't be picky, what's important is human safety must come first, leave it to me. Sure I'm not too bad at doing this," Neville replied confidently. He was reminded again of his siblings and cousins' words about his profession as a soldier that could take his life at any time. Neville didn't know if he could live tomorrow. He could only be a Viscount for two months.

"I'll let Rufus go now, I can't accompany you because it's my duty to keep watch here. Hope you brought enough bullets," the man who was covering his mouth let go of his reins. let the sturdy-legged german shepherd sniff the air for a moment before dashing off into the darkness.

Neville spurred on his horse. He also wrapped a scarf around his face. The rancid smell of blood was getting stronger. Neville's sense of smell had become quite sensitive since he became a vampire hunter. He practiced it, plus a little potion to strengthen his five senses. The vampire  probably didn't use table manners when eating because they were very greedy.
