Alright- so this one's kinda interesting.

I've never really been a big fan of romance as a genre by it's self. All the troupes we know are all so overused. Don't get me wrong, there's a few good ones, but I'm gonna list off a few and I can guarantee you know at least one story with each of these troupes:

Friends to lovers
Enemies to lovers
Childhood friends to lovers
Rivals to lovers
Strangers to lovers
Polar opposites
Two peas in a pod
High society/royalty falls for a commoner (similar- popular and loner)
The Nerd and the Jock
Arranged marriage
Gentle giant and the demonic goblin (similar- violent giant and tiny sweetheart)
The mom friend and the reckless-

The list goes on- you get the point.

I've seen so much of the 'enemies to lovers' troupe that it gets old quick, and sometimes it's hard to think of something new or barely used.

Now, something I haven't seen is a reverse enemies to lovers- I want to see a pair of lovers turn into enemies. Like, yeah I know, we love the fluffy story of our two love birds getting with each other at the end of the story- but I want to see a pair that's been together for seemingly forever. Head over heels, heart eyes, the whole shebang. BUT we slowly watch them fall out of love and kind of change personalities. Maybe one's still hanging on to the other or it's a mutual falling out- or maybe one of them gets betrayed. (Whether it was forced or an accident, you decide.)

It definitely would be something. And if you're actively trying to attack your readers, get them invested in your lovers. Make the audience fall in love with them, make them fall so hard they want to curse the author's name. Because nothing hurts more than betrayal and a broken heart.

Do with this as you will, and if this happens to be just the thing you're looking for or the perfect prompt for you- please tag me! I would love to read your stories.

Happy writing my lovelies ^w^
