"Y/n!?" I heard someone call out, looking in front of me, I seen Bruce in his front yard with the ball I needed to take.
"Bruce!" I jogged up to him, as he gave me a hug. "You haven't been at school, are you sick?" Hugging back I cheekily smiled. "No! I was expelled actually. I had gotten blamed for something I didn't do"
He made an 'O' face and passed me the ball. "Well since you're here, could you just be my pitcher? I'm trying to get better at batting" clutching the ball, I smirked. "Of course I can, but I have to warn you, I'm the best pitcher here"
Yes, my ego is very high, but it has to be that way so no one can bring me down. Keep your head up they say. Fake it till you make it.
"Really?" He sarcastically joked. "I'll have to test your arm skills out, yeah?" He stated while grabbing his bat, swinging it around, before he crouched down.
You stood back a few, and eyed him up. Taking one foot of the ground, and bring both arms up, one with the ball and the other just there for more of a swing.
Falling back onto your leg, you pushed forward, throwing the ball his way. The ball soared through the crisp morning air, it was like watching a movie scene in slow motion.
Bruce swung his bat with full force, the two items connecting, making a POP noise from the impact. Sending the ball somewhere over the fence, it was as if everything went back into normal speed.
Krrrk
"Shoot! My ball!" He dropped the bat, his hands now set upon his head, as if he was gonna stretch. Letting his arms sloppily drop to his side, he sighed.
"At least it isn't the ball my dad gave me" Excuse me? Did he just make me worry over a fake ball clone!? "Anyways. Wanna head inside?" Picking the bat up again, he turned to me, awaiting for my answer.
"Sure!" Following close behind him, I noticed that his street seemed to be a bit more lively than what Griffins street did. Some kids were playing just two houses away from us, laughing and giggling over small things.
"They're cute aren't they?" Startled, I seen Bruce right next to me. Staring at the same scene I was looking at. "They are..." I agreed, staring back at them.
Bruce let his head hang low, before chuckling a little. "You're special, y'know?" Seeing my confused expression, his smile grew even more.
Before I answered he ruffled my hair, and quickly sprinted off while shouting. "Catch me if you can, loser!" Before disappearing inside his house.
"You better hide!" I yelled, trying to fix my hair, while walking into his house. The minute I did though, it was like my body froze, yet again.
"Please let me go!"
"Why? Why me!?"
"We we're gonna celebrate..."
"Please...no...NO..NOOOOO!"
......
"Y/n!" Bruce jumped in front of me, his cheeky smile very much visible. "Did you see a ghost or something? You look sick" Touching my head, I pulled away.
Cold. "N-no. I just thought you screamed something..." I confirmed, looking around his house, something didn't seem right. Why was his family pictures so dirty, and covered with dust.
His parents they weren't here either. Just like Finn, And Griffin. Robin lives with his uncle, and Vance? Not too sure.
Why do I keep hearing voices?! That one sounded like...Bruce? But he wasn't even shouting. I'm going crazy. It's official.
"Hey!" Snapping out of it, Bruce cringed at me. "You keep zoning out" shaking my head, I waved him off. "Sorry! Just tired is all" I lied. If I keep acting weird, they're definitely gonna think somethings going on.
"If you say so. Also I'm just gonna go get that ball! Stay right here." He informed, before jogging past me and out the door. Watching his figure disappear, I started my search for his 'special' ball.
~
FOUND IT! It was in his room, and like I guessed, it was on a literal trophy stand. He would've definitely noticed it was gone, so I decided to look for another ball.
Going into his closet, he had no clothes. Dude. Really? Who doesn't have no clothes in their damn closet or drawers!?
Shaking it off, there laid a ball on the floor. Great! Picking it up and placing it on the trophy stand. I walked back out, but not before placing the ball in my hoodie with the rocket ship from Finn.
"Have fun in there?" Freezing in my tracks, I looked up. Bruce. My heart dropped at the sight of him. His eyebrows were netted together, and his eyes narrowed at me, with slightly pursed lips.
"Sorry I just wanted to look around." He didn't seem too fond of my answer and stormed past me and towards the door. Slamming it shut.
Turning to me he said, in a not so friendly tone. "Get out." Huh? "What?" I questioned with confusion. "I said get.out. Don't snoop around my house, when I told you to specifically stay where you were" he explained through gritted teeth.
"So GET OUT!" Not wanting to anger him even more, I left his house immediately. As soon as I passed through his front door, I heard it slam behind me.
Jolting at the sudden slamming sound. I looked over my shoulder. "He's definitely gonna turn into Vance." I commented, before looking back in front of me.
Looking towards where those kids were playing, they were no longer there. Not to mention, the street looked dull now. It didn't look lively as it did before.
What is going on?
Kids...Purity, and innocence ...Stolen and taken away from them...
