(Y/N's POV)

Today was the day. Graduation night. 5:00 pm. Or at least what the message says.

"So what are you gonna dress up in?" Max asked on our way out the school.

"...Maxi. It's a high school graduation. We're changing into our gowns in the school." I said.

"Right, stupid stupid stupid! How did I get enough credits to even pass high school?"

"That's what the whole school's talking about too."

Currently it was 4:00. We had to get there early for an early senior feast in the auditorium. Justin agreed to drop me off at the school. Well, it's not really agreeing. It's more like blackmail.

"I shouldn't allow you in my car anymore." He muttered as Max and I got out the car.

I raised my eyebrows a little to remind what  I was holding against him. Justin gave a quick "sorry" and drove off.

We both entered into the building and walked into the cafeteria. There was a whole damn feast to feed a bunch of people, and our gowns were assigned in little paper bags, along with some graduation parting gifts.

"What do we do?" He inquired after he grabbed a bag.

I checked the email they sent to my phone. "It says here we don't dress up until 6. Right now we just eat."

He put the bag back. "Don't mind if I do."

The principal walked up to us and asked me if I could talk to them for a moment. Max walked off and I walked with the principal to a spot not many people were at.

"Don't get too excited, but you have been chosen to be the Principal's honor roll." (Y/P/N) stated.

"Wha- what is that supposed to mean?" I stuttered.

"Valedictorian."

I gasped and covered my mouth. No way I got Valedictorian. This has gotta be a dream.

"I already notified your parents and you can give shoutouts to whoever you like that motivated you to get this role." They said. "Just don't tell everybody. "

"I wont."

After we parted, I immediately run up to Max and told him what happened.

"What's a Principal's honor roll? Is that supposed to be like a principal's assistant?" He asked.

"No dumbass. I had the highest GPA out of everyone. I can give you a shoutout. Make your speech while you can."

That's when I realized he got an idea. "Don't even think about saying something dumb like Zeke. 'I would make out with one of Harper's mannequins for a quarter' is not a good speech."

"Nah, it's not that. I got another idea."

"Well don't say anything that'll ruin my graduation and reputation."

He promised and went to grab a plate. I followed him as we both put portions of food on the plate. We cleared it in 10 minutes since the email said to have a light lunch.

"Alright everyone. Grab your bag and go to your locker rooms. We'll start the ceremony in the football field at 6:10." The principal spoke into the microphone.

Everyone in the room grabbed their assigned bags and went straight for the locker rooms. Since the girls and boys locker rooms were separate, we promised to meet near the exit to the field.

I was about to take off my shirt until a voice right next to me said something. "Hey, Y/N right?"

I look to the side to this girl staring at me. "Uh, yeah. Why?"

"I'm Aaliyah. I've been here for a few months and realized that boy you hang out with almost all the time is probably in love with you. Maybe he'll even... ask you out?"

I gave her a weird look. "Oh? What makes you say that?"

"I- well- um- s- strong feelings" She stuttered. "Speaking of strong feelings, watch the water on the ground."

I didn't give it much thought. I put everything in my locker and started walking to the exits as Aaliyah walked with me. While exiting, I slipped on something and she caught me just in time before I hit my head on the floor.

"Told ya." She said.

"How do you know that was gonna happen?" I questioned as I got back up on my feet.

"All I can tell you is that I know you're a wizard." She shrugged. Then she walked off.

Realization hit me.
