(Max's POV)
Today is the day. Y/N's 17th birthday. Ever since that day on the beach, she's been acting strange. She would be awkward any time we would hug or hesitate any time I ask her to come over. What do they mean?
"MAX! COME DOWN HERE YOU'RE LATE FOR YOUR SHIFT!" Mom yelled.
Fuck. "Coming!"
* Time skip to 2:05 pm
When I took a break from my shift, I sat at the bar of the sub car and Y/N called me through my phone. I took a peek at my notifications before picking up. "10 new messages. 5 missed calls." Whoops.
I pick up the phone. "Hey Y/N, wassu-"
"Max! I've been trying to contact you and get your attention for more ten minutes now!" Y/N yelled.
"Sorry, I'm currently at work in the substation." I replied. "I'll talk to you when my second shift is over."
"When will that happen?"
"At 5." I confirmed.
"It's almost 5 already? I just woke up!"
"Yeah yeah I know. By the way, wanna come camping with us for your birthday?"
"Sure. The place near the lake?"
"Mhm. I'll see you here in 3 hours. My break is gonna end. Bye sleepy head. Happy birthday!"
"Sleepy head? I-"
I ended the phone to cut her off. Alex called me name right after. "Yo Max, your 15 minute break is over. Clear the tables!"
(Alex's POV)
Max left the sub car and went to grab a container and collect the baskets. It took me a while to realize he left his phone on the bar of the car. I sneakily put it in my pocket and went upstairs.
"Mom, dad. Can I take like a 5 minute break? 'Kay thanks!"
I went to the loft and sat down on the couch. Swiped the phone open but it required an eight-digit password.
"What is it, Y/N's birth date?" I tried out 08212003. "Oh. I didn't think that would actually work."
I looked through Max's messages. His latest one was with Y/N.
