so uh this was supposed to be a 500 special but like i didnt realize we were already at 500 until i checked the reads and it was at 550 and it took like 2 days to write this sorryyy

here is the story so far from Lapis' perspective ig

Well you could say it wasn't everyday that you find a half-transfurred, unconscious, absolutely messed up looking human. The chances are low, but never none.

Looking at the human, there were multiple scratch marks and bruises littered everywhere throughout their body. Lapis felt pain from just looking at it.

"Who did this to you..?" He muttered, gingerly lifting them up. The human flinched at even the slightest touches on his wounds.

His focus was directly on the suffering human and he didn't notice a small Slimepup hiding in the human's satchel, until the Slimepup bit him in the ankle.

"Ow you little demonic peice of shit-" He hissed at the way smaller Gootrax.

The Slimepup looked at him apologetically. "Sorry, I'm just worried about him. Can I come with you, please?" It came out in babbles and squeaks, but the Kaiju very clearly understood what the Slimepup was saying.

"Sure, come along, uh-"

"Mango."

"Yep, Mango."

Lapis carried the rather light for his size human all the way to the Washrooms without making much of a fuss. He congratulated himself for that. Mango, the strange hybrid Slimepup, was somehow able to write an paper sign saying "Under maintenance! Do not enter." in actually neat handwriting, considering Mango just grabbed a pen with their teeth and jolted down some words. Then they stuck it up on the door with a piece of tape. He didn't even think that Slimepups could write until that very moment.

Now, what are they doing, you ask? They're sitting on the bathroom floor, Mango is munching down on an ice cream sandwich making a mess of himself and Lapis is silently slurping up some cup noodles.

His eyes slid towards the human, or rather, the Gootrax now, and it stayed there for a long time. They were definitely a hybrid, and a pretty one of course. Lapis caught that thought and his face slight flushed. He wasn't- and can't-  fall in love with someone he just met! Love at first sight is just stupid.

"Liking the view, huh?"

Caught off guard by the question, Lapis nearly dropped his noodles. Then he just blushed even harder. "I- no! Screw you Mango."

The lime green and golden Slimepup just smirked at him. "Suuuure, whatever you say~"

The Kaiju buried his head into his arms to save himself from more embarrassment.

"...But every time I see Matcha just sitting alone, heartbroken, on a Cafeteria table while Melted'Cone and Ruby hang out, it just makes me feel so...guilty...you know...?"

As Lapis finished, he almost immediately burst into tears. He was about to take a step back and wipe his tears, but Leon took him by surprise. The Panther-Carneline hybrid quickly moved forward and embraced him in his arms. He smelled lightly of vanilla and a hint of lavender.

The 6 minutes of silent hugging felt like an eternity to Lapis, but in a good way. He felt something bloom in his heart that made him feel warm, other than the natural warmth of Leon. Suddenly he let out a harsh, forced laugh.

"What am I doing, opening up to a totally new stranger that I barely even know? Am I so messed up I can't even pick myself up anymore?" He felt horrible just by saying that out loud.

Leon was quick to comfort the saddening Kaiju. "Shush, you. You just needed to talk about it, that's all." He gingerly wiped the remaining tears from his face. He suddenly looked like he had a bright idea. "Oh, I know! Here!"

He snatched the busy looking Slimepup from the satchel they were in and passed it to his arms.

"What..?"

"Emotional support. Helped me get through some rough times!" Leon exclaimed.

Lapis was a bit unsure of what Leon was trying to go for, but he smiled and hugged the small slime Gootraxian anyways. "Thanks, Leon."

Leon grinned back at the Kaiju, but his expression quickly changed and he was suddenly confused.

"Wait- how do you know my name-?"

Despite his best efforts, he glanced at the corner where an ID card, all chewed up, laid.

Leon groaned. "Mango, I freaking hate you."
