Tails POV
The next day, my sister came into my room. "Tails, wake up!" She startled me so much that I fell off my bed and hit my arm on my dresser. "What time is it?" I asked. "It's 6am!" she told me. "School starts in an hour! You overslept!" "What?!" I panicked. I quickly got ready and ran to school as quickly as possible. I was grateful that she woke me up for once.
As soon as I got there, everyone was outside of the school. Charmy walked towards me. "Well well well," he said. "You're finally here, fox." "My name is Tails!" I growled. "Whatever," he snapped. Before I could even prepare for the fight, he threw his fist at me and gave me a black eye. I was furious. I immediately turned around in a circle and tripped him with my tails.
"Whoops," I said sarcastically. "Didn't mean to trip you." Charmy was infuriated. He got up and tried to punch me again, but I spinned my tails and flew above him. After I landed, he growled at me. "Is that all you've got?" I asked. "No!" Charmy snapped. He jumped towards me and tackled me to the ground. I tried to fight back, but I was pinned down. "Great," I thought. "I'm screwed!"
Just then, a purple cat hissed at Charmy and pushed him off of me. "Leave him alone!" she snarled. Charmy looked up at her and had a nervous look on his face. "Um... Ok Blaze!" he said hastily as he ran away. That's all I remember before passing out.
I woke up in the nurse's office. "Great, I woke up here on my second day," I thought. "Tails!" I heard a voice. I looked up and saw Sonic! "Are you ok?!" "I think so," I said. "Hey, Sonic?" "Yeah?" he asked. "Did you see that look on Charmy's face as soon as the cat attacked him?" I asked. "It was fear." "That's kind of weird," Sonic said. "Normally, he's not afraid of anything."
As soon as I got up, we went to class. Luckily, we weren't late this time. A few minutes later, me and the cat, Blaze, I think, were called to the principal's office. "Take a seat," the principal said. He was a gray cat that looked almost blue depending on the lighting. We sat down. "So, why are we here?" Blaze calmly asked.
"So, Mr. Prower and Ms. Cat, Charmy here said you attacked him without being provoked." the principal said. "Please be honest. Is that true?" "No," I said. "I promise. He attacked me first. I was only defending myself." "And I was defending the new kid," Blaze said. "Tails, was it?" I nodded. "Very well," the principal said. "I'm not sure who to believe, so I'll check the security cameras."
"But we both attacked him! It'll make us look bad!" I panicked. "Listen, Mr. Prower, if you really were only defending yourself, you have nothing to worry about," he reassured. "He's right," Blaze told me. "He's a really kind and understanding guy. He'll understand if you only attacked Charmy in self-defense. I promise."
After checking the cameras, the principal turned to me, Charmy, and Blaze. "I'm so sorry about this, Blaze and Miles," he said. "As for you, Mr. Bee, you're suspended for three weeks for bullying and assault. You may all leave now," Charmy looked scared.
After we left the principal's office, Charmy immediately ran off. "Is he ok?" I asked. "I'm not sure," Blaze told me. "Go ahead to class," I said. "What about you?" Blaze asked. "I'm going to follow him," I told her. "Don't try to stop me. I want to know why he was scared of you and the principal, but not most of us." "Be careful, Miles," she said. "I will, Blaze," I told her. "And please, call me Tails."
As soon as Blaze went to class, I walked around the school trying to find Charmy. I found him in the bathroom. He was crying. "Charmy," I said softly. "Are you ok?" He seemed shocked to see me, but then he turned away. "I'm fine," he said. I approached him slowly. "You're crying. You're clearly not fine," I said. "Tell me the truth." "Fine," he said. "The truth is... I only bullied you because I'm unhappy with my own life."
I was shocked. "Charmy, why didn't you tell anyone?" I asked. Just leave me alone, damn it!" he snapped. "Hell no!" I said. "I won't until you tell me everything!" He sighed. "I thought I would get bullied. I have depression because my dad died when I was six and my mom abused me. I ran away and all I have is my older brother, Espio. He's not even my real brother. I'm adopted. Everyone knows that and most kids don't care, but sometimes, I meet a few people that bully me and they make me feel like I should... end it all."
That shocked me even more. "Don't think that way!" I said. "There are people that care about you!" "You don't know me!" he said in tears. "Everyone likes you because you're the new kid and people think it's cool that you have two tails!" I put my hand on his shoulder. "You think I wasn't bullied for my two tails?" I asked. "You probably weren't. It's cool," he said. "Well, I was," I said. "You can ask my old friend, Jocelyn. She was at my old school and I don't see her anymore, but I keep in touch with her."
Charmy smiled. "You know how it feels to have little to no friends?" he asked. "Of course!" I said. "Jocelyn was my only friend before I met Sonic and Shadow!" Charmy hugged me tightly. "You feel better about this?" I asked. "Yeah," he told me. "Thanks." I hugged him back. "If you need to talk to someone, I'm here for you," I assured. I gave him my number so we can call or text each other later and we headed to class. We spent the entirety of first period with this and we were really late for second period.
"You're thirty minutes late," the teacher said. She was a black hawk with a white stripe down her head. "You better have a good excuse." "It's... personal," Charmy said. The teacher sighed. "Since it's personal, I'll let you off, but next time, it's detention," she said. "Mr. Prower, why were you late?" "I was helping the principal with something!" I lied. "Very well," she said. "Take your seats."
As soon as we sat down, Shadow passed me a note. It said "Were you telling the truth?" I wrote, "no, I wasn't." "Why? What's the truth?" he wrote back. "It's personal," I wrote. "For Charmy, at least. I don't want to tell anyone since it might make him upset." The teacher didn't notice us passing notes, but Charmy did. "Are you telling him about my personal life?" he whispered. "No," I said. "I'm telling him that I won't tell anyone since it might make you upset."
As soon as school was over, Charmy hugged me. "I won't be here for the next three weeks since I got suspended," he said. "Well, at least we can stay in touch," I said. "And never think about committing suicide again." "Hey!" he chuckled. "Don't casually mention that!" I laughed a bit. Me and my friends headed home and we never told Sonic or Shadow the truth.
