CW/TW for the chapter: mention of germaphobia, negative thoughts & very slight mention of verbal bullying

----------

The next two weeks went pretty fast. Sakusa and Hinata were getting used to the team very quickly and they played well all together. They will be having an official game soon and the coach was enthusiastic and confident about it.

Atsumu was still getting on Kiyoomi's nerves but, what he did not expect was that the raven has mastered the art of avoiding and/or not reacting to the blonde's attitude and comments – something that Atsumu is definitely not used to, and definitely doesn't like.

Even though Kiyoomi didn't seem to pay attention to what Atsumu was saying, he knew that it didn't fundamentally annoy him, otherwise he would have stopped. Atsumu is annoying, yes, but he knows his limits – especially with a teammate, he doesn't want the team to be affected by this.

However, even if Sakusa didn't seem to mind a lot the bitchy and/or flirty comments and remarks that the setter gives him, Miya still noticed that the spiker doesn't like physical touch.

Every time Atsumu tries to hug him or even give him a high five at the end of a won match, the raven always steps back – something that made Atsumu frown because, come on, who doesn't want to hug him??

Thus, Miya started to ask himself questions about his new teammate.
"Why does he wear a mask all the time except for the times when he plays volleyball, when he is in the shower, and when he eats?"
"I get that people are not tactile but he could at least high-five me when we make a good combination on the court and mark!"

Something important to know about Atsumu and his brain is that when he starts to think, he doesn't stop. Not until he has answers. So he decided to ask the one at the origin of all his rambling: Sakusa Kiyoomi.

"Hey Omi-Omi, tell me, why da ya always wear a mask? Ya sick?" he asked after practice when Sakusa was making his way out of the gymnasium.

"No, I am not sick, Miya. This is actually to avoid getting sick." Kiyoomi replied with a sigh.

"Huh, okay," he paused, a little confused before continuing, "I don't wear a mask and I don't get sick but if that makes ya feel better then that's cool Omi!"

"I'm a germaphobe, Miya. It's not like I like this, it's just the way I am."

"Oh! I see! Well that makes sense then Omi-kun. I'm glad ya told me, I'll pay attention now!" Atsumu replied with a genuine smile on his face – much to Kiyoomi's surprise.

It was the first time someone reacted like this when he told them about his phobia. Usually, he gets comments such as "this doesn't even exist", or "you're just a freak". This feels nice, he's not going to lie.

"And I'm sorry if I ever made ya feel uncomfortable with my touching. I didn't realize." the blonde then added.

It snapped Kiyoomi out of his thoughts. He never thought his (annoying and loud) teammate could be that genuine. It didn't even feel real, he was surely hiding something.

He decided to leave quickly, the situation made him feel quite uncomfortable. "Whatever. Bye, Miya." he said before starting walking again, faster.

"Am I mental or something? Why did I say this to him?! Especially him?! He's gonna tell everyone else on the team." was all the raven could think about when he passed by his teammate so that he could leave the gym and go back to his place.
