"Peter!" I call after him. A faint snap suddenly rings out and I almost topple over. I slow down into a fast hobble and quickly take off my heels one at a time, checking the backs. One of the platforms has broken so it just hangs attached to the grey vinyl. "Ah, shit."

With my heels in my hand, I take of running again, trying to get rid of the large space between us. I hear a grunt and a loud slam before turning the corner and seeing Peter lift up a block of lockers.

"Peter!" He turns quickly and takes in my shoeless feet. "What happened?"

He waits for me to catch up as he takes off his tie and jacket. He throws me his shoes and tells me to put them on before pulling out an old jumper and joggers. "Liz's dad." He manages to get out in between his ragged breaths.

I grab onto his shoulders and force him to look at me. His eyes are wide with panic and his face is pale. "What do you mean? What's happened?"

"It's Liz's dad. He's the Vulture." Pete looks around and grabs a red hat from the floor. "He threatened me in the car, telling me to stop getting involved or he'll kill everyone." Peter looks at me and gulps, his voice now a whisper. "He'll kill you and Aunt May and Ned. I can't- I can't let him do that."

"We can't let him do that, Pete." I let go of his shoulders and start putting on his shoes. "I'm coming with you."

Peter shakes his head. "No, no you can't. You haven't got a suit. He'll know who you are."

"I've got my mask and gloves." I pull them out of my bag along with my phone. "That's all I need."

Peter scans my face for a second before quickly pulling me into a hug. "Thank you."

"We're a team," I shrug. "You'd do it for me."

He pulls away and smiles, his hand rising to no doubt ruffle my hair before he takes in the complicated style and thinks better of it. I send a silent thanks to Yelena. I smirk at him and go on my toes to ruffle his instead.

"What's the plan, Bug-Boy?"

"We just go for it."

My confidence dwindles, almost falling from my brain. "Oh, okay. So we just charge in there and hope they don't blow us sky-high?"

Peter shrugs. "Yeah."

"Cool."

He takes off down the corridor again, me at his heels and flies out of the fire-door. I step back and out of sight when he gets thrown across the bus parking lot.

"He gave you a choice," a man says and I recognise him to be the one with the really powerful punch. "And you chose wrong."

I step outside, ready to attack anyone who comes close but I can only see Peter and the man. He steps closer towards Pete and I put on my mask and gloves and close my fist. When I open it again, a large spider is sat on my palm. It's eyes large enough that I can see each one. The light from the school glints off of a thin iridescent web attached to my palm and the spider.

I step towards the man and Peter sees me but the man doesn't, already preoccupied with Pete. My footsteps make no noise as I feel up to him and place the spider on his shoulder, attaching the web to his collar.

I take a load of steps back before getting a string of energy and tapping him on the shoulder with it.

He turns around and a grin makes its way onto his face.

"Hey, yeah, hi," I wave at him and take another step back when he starts moving forwards. "There's a little something on your shoulder there." His hand flies to where the spider is and his thumb touches an eye.
