Johnny deadpanned as Joseph slammed a raw bird onto the table.
"Turkey."
"Yes."
"You got the sweet potatoes?"
"Yeah...you do know that nobody actually celebrates Thanksgiving in Japan, right? It's an American holiday."
"Well maybe I want to start a new tradition! If I'm going to be living in Japan long term, I'm still going to celebrate what I celebrate!"
"Yare yare...you know the others are going to be confused."
"That's their problem!"
Johnny sighed and pulled out a sack of sweet potatoes. "Alright...if you insist, I guess we're celebrating Thanksgiving."
"Hell yeah!" Joseph grabbed the potatoes and headed to the kitchen.
They were currently in Joseph's apartment, and he was extremely excited for the dinner he had planned. Even though Thanksgiving was exclusive to America...
Johnny was pretty sure Joseph just wanted the meal, but it WAS a nice gesture.
Johnny pulled out his phone and texted Izuku.
Horseshoe: Hey Broccoli.
Parsley: Hi JoJo!
Parsley: Oh, this is a new one.
Horseshoe: Kyoka is very creative when she's making fun of people. Is your mom on board with theThanksgiving dinner?
Parsley: Yeah! She's super excited for it! Even though we still have no idea what Thanksgiving is or what it is about.
Horseshoe: Well, it started because of a feast between the English settlers and the Native Americans, it was a whole 'we are friends' kind of thing.
Parsley: That's nice!
Horseshoe: The settlers then proceeded to force them out of their lands and screw them over for centuries, treating them like second class citizens.
Parsley: You...celebrate that?
Horseshoe: No, the holiday kind of turned into expressing thanks for everything in our lives. A day of gratitide. Still pretty scummy of them though. Either way, Gramps is VERY excited for it, he almost broke his table with the turkey.
Parsley: He gets excited about a lot of things.
Horseshoe: So do you. Anyway...we need ingredients for the pumpkin pie, and I was wondering if you would like to go help me get them.
Parsely: Sure! We can get the group together if you want.
Horseshoe: Alright, see you then.
Parsley: See you! Oh...by the way, do we need an actual pumpkin?
Horseshoe: ...
...
"Time to meet the boyfriend, for REAL this time!" Kyotoku Jiro said, cracking his knuckles.
"Dad, my boyfriend could beat you up in half a second." Kyoka replied. "Did I mention he threw a tank the other day?"
"A-a tank you say? Well...perhaps I should take it easy on him."
"Yare yare...and you better be on your best behavior too, Mom."
