"what do you mean?" he asks quietly.
my mouth opens and closes, deciding what to say. "i... i don't know where i am. i don't know who i am, or who you are or what is going on. my whole mind is empty, no memories. i forgot... everything."
once the words leave my mouth i start to regret it, feeling somewhat panicked. the boy breathes heavily, his hands slip from my shoulders in defeat.
"i... umm. i don't know why, i'm really sorry," i mumble.
the boy seems to shake from his daze and grabs at my shoulders again. "no, no. it's not your fault. i had a feeling this might happen actually. i think if i had been here sooner i could've..." he mutters the last part to himself and then looks back at me. "sorry. let me umm... introduce myself?"
he steps back and bows respectfully. "i'm prince dream from l'manburg."
i lightly smile at his formality. he stands up straight, seriousness taking over his face. "and you are prince george of kinoko kingdom."
"george... that's my name?" i quirk my head.
dream smiles sadly. "yeah. the one and only."
i pause awkwardly, feeling bad that i can't feel the remorse that he feels from losing someone.
he clears his throat. "well... i should take you home then."
"home..."
dream leads me away from the bed and towards the gate. on the other side of the stone wall is a beautiful tan horse waiting patiently by a tree. it holds a pack most likely full of supplies and materials you would need for a long journey.
dream starts to untie the horse from the tree and get it ready for riding. a gentle breeze glides through his hair and ruffles my open shirt. it's a reminder and i quickly move to button it up and tuck it back into my pants, feeling a little embarrassed about how disheveled i look.
in my defense, i just woke up.
i watch as dream pets the mane of his horse and coo's, feeding it a carrot. i smile at his actions. dream seemed like a gentle giant. he was a giant because he towered over me, at least a head taller, maybe more.
dream moves his attention to me and away from the horse.
"this is clementine, my faithful steed."
i smile. "oh, umm, hello clementine." i step towards her and run my hand along her neck. she snorts and shakes her mane at me, making me jump a little.
dream chuckles at me. i feel my cheeks heat up from embarrassment.
"c'mon." dream gestures to the saddle. "i'll help you up."
i nod my head and step up to the horse again.
"actually," he stops. "let me go first."
dream easily climbs up and swings his leg over onto the horse. he adjusts himself and looks down at me.
we have to ride this horse together? isn't that a little close up? i mean, we do know each other, well he knows me, but still.
dream doesn't notice my hesitance and points, "just put your foot in the stirrup and i'll help you up."
i raise my boot and place it into the stirrup. dream holds his hand out to me and i hesitantly grab it.
"jump up on three and swing your leg over."
i nod my head.
he counts and pulls me up to him easily. i slide into the saddle, and up against his back. i adjust myself, trying to give him a little space, but the pack behind me, and dream in front of me is a perfect george size space for me to sit. so i stay right up against him.
