[ Chapter One ]Never Leave You Standing
Rain fell from the sky, finding their way onto Rose's face. She had always liked the rain. It was one thing she could find comfort in other than the shadows. She looked up at the sky with a small smile on her face.
Pietro and Wanda walked behind her. One thing Rose noticed about the twins was that Wanda was more cautious than Pietro. She didn't know where they were going, but she was glad to be out of the HYDRA base. Her light blue jacket had been torn at some parts of her sleeves and the front. With what started as a small drizzle of rain turned to a downpour.
Wanda was already inside of the nearby bookstore. Pietro stayed at the door, waiting for Rose. "You'll get a cold." He warned.
Rose sighed. She walked into the store, no one was there except the owner, who seemed far too busy to even notice them. Wanda had trailed off to the back section, Rose had no idea where Pietro was, but she found herself in the fantasy section. Her fingers brushed against the covers of various books. Most of them were about witches.
She looked at the windows. They were cloudy or fogged up due to the heavy rain. For the first time in a long time, Rose felt at peace. She had a feeling it wouldn't last. But even for just a moment, she was happy for the peace. That peace was interrupted when she felt a breeze run by her.
Rose looked at Pietro, her arms crossed over her chest. She looked at what was in his hands. A light blue jacket, one similar to hers but it looked nicer. Her brows furrowed at the jacket. "Yours is torn... and like you said, I'd make a decent kleptomaniac." He handed her the new jacket.
She took off her old jacket and replaced it with the new one. It was much more comfortable and had a hood. Rose and Pietro stood in silence until Wanda came up to them. "We shouldn't stay here for too long. Just in case." She suggested.
Rose nodded in agreement. The rain had stopped for now, so it wouldn't be too bad. She didn't mind that her sneakers were now soaked from puddles. Her feet didn't like the bitter coldness that came from it, but she ignored the numb feeling.
How the land dried so quickly, she didn't understand. The grass immediately turned back to its greyish-brown colour and smoke filled the background. Wanda had briefly explained that they were going to go meet someone, who could potentially give them an opportunity. Rose didn't exactly like it. She'd much prefer to just roam around the world or stay somewhere else.
Her jacket didn't make her blend in, but it didn't bother her too much. Rose noticed the large cut on the palm of her left hand. She knew it should be covered up so it wouldn't get infected, however, she didn't want to leave the twins. They gave her company. It was nice.
Rose's hands were in the pockets of her jacket. She had pulled her hood up to cover the top of her head. Her hands had become freezing cold, in response to that, she just simply ignored it. It wouldn't kill her, and that meant she didn't need to worry about it.
"Your hands look cold." Pietro commented.
Rose looked at him with narrowed eyes, "they're fine." She spoke a clear lie. It didn't bother her much. With what she knew about the world, lying could let you survive the harsh realities of the world. Therefore, she had no problem telling a simple one of her being fine.
Rose's jacket being torn: ...
Pietro: i shall get a new jacket for her:)
Okay, bye!
