CHAPTER NINE
You Lose What You Love

Rose was helping Wanda protect and move groups of people. There was a little girl, short dark brown hair with green highlights. One of the robots from Ultron's army fired at the girl. Out of pure instinct, Rose shielded the girl with both her powers and her body. The girl hugged her and said 'thank you' before running off to her mom and dad. Rose looked back at the robot and narrowed her eyes.

Then she felt the ground move. "Well that's not good." She whispered to herself.

"Do you see the beauty of it? The inevitability. You rise, only to fall. You, Avengers, you are my meteor. My swift and terrible sword. And the earth will crack with the weight of your failure. Purge me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me. It means nothing. When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be metal." Ultron's voice rang throughout all of Sokovia.

"I really hate that voice."

"Never noticed." Pietro responded to Rose, scaring the shit out of her.

She placed a hand over her heart, "are you trying to give me a heart attack?" Rose questioned. He only smirked and cocked his head.

"Come on, we have saving to do." Pietro went to run.

"Pietro," he turned to look at her with raised eyebrows, waiting, "be careful."

He furrowed his brows in confusion, forgetting that she could see the future. "Only if you'll be careful." He promised, running off.

Buildings continued to crumble and fall to the ground, that had technically lifted up off the attached areas. Rose continued to help people get out.

"Cap, you got incoming." Tony warned Steve through the earpiece.

"Incoming already came in. Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely. The rest of us have one job, tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed, walk it off." Steve told the team.

"Wise words, old man." Rose panted as she leaned against the stone wall. Nonetheless, she listened.

She saw a car starting to go over the edge with people in it, her eyes widened and she reached out. A violet mist surrounded the car and her own hands as she moved the car back to safety. Rose continued to destroy the Ultrons.

"The next wave is gonna hit any minute. What do you got, Stark?" Steve asked.

"Huh? Nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface, if you guys can get clear." Tony answered.

"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan." Steve's voice became slightly harsher.

"Impact radius is getting bigger every second. We're gonna have to make a choice." Tony told him.

"Cap, these people are going nowhere. If Stark finds a way to blow this rock..." Natasha started.

"Not till everyone's safe."
