EPILOGUE
A Trip Down Memory Lane

Darkness rose to the sky, clouding the orange and purple in the skies. One second Rose was on the ground, the next, she was awake. She didn't know how to explain it, everything felt light. No amount of weight was left on her shoulders.

You'd think that Rose would feel the best she'd ever felt in her long lifetime, but you'd be wrong. It felt completely empty and wrong. She pushed herself up from the flat, black ground, glancing around before seeing a familiar face. "Told you I'd see you in a minute." She joked lightly.

"You knew, didn't you?" He asked.

Rose stood in front of him. "Pietro—"

"Why didn't you tell me?" He questioned.

"Because you were meant to die. It was something out of my control." Rose told him. Pietro furrowed his eyebrows at her.

    "Out of your control?"

Rose heard a hushed voice in her head. She couldn't really tell if it was British or Scottish, her mind couldn't wrap her head around it. But apparently, it wasn't just in her head now, because now Pietro could hear the voice.

    "Rosa, Pietro..."

Rose's eyes widened while Pietro furrowed his brows. "Rosa?" He muttered, looking at her.

She glanced around, trying to think of an excuse. "Rosa is my name, but everyone kept calling me 'Rose', so I just went along with it. It's not that deep." She half-lied.

Pietro kept staring at Rosa. "Who are you and what do you want?" Pietro asked.

"I have to show you both memories, one at a time. Alone." He explained. First, he disappeared with Pietro, leaving Rosa all alone again.

"Why do you have to show both of us our memories?" Pietro asked him.

"That's what happens when you die. You get a replay of your memories. Your best ones. You subconsciously save the best for last." He told him.

Pietro looked at a screen flashing in front of him, then it felt like he got teleported. One was him, Wanda, and their parents having dinner together happily. A year before their death and it wasn't perfect, but it was home. Then a moment of happiness just between him and Wanda, the meeting Rosa, then the last one. They were with The Avengers and it was before they were heading out.

"I'm just going to check on Rose before we head out." Pietro told Wanda, getting a nod of approval.

Pietro walked to the room and saw Rose staring in the mirror, like she was lost in a moment of reflection. Like her own world was going to burn to ashes. A moment she had to prepare for. Pietro smiled when he saw her. The new jacket she had suited her, but there was a part of him that felt bittersweet about it. But then he saw the jacket he got her in front of her on the countertop, like she couldn't bring herself to discard it completely.

Rose turned around to see him.

"You look good." He complimented, meaning it.

Rose scoffed, "I look like I belong in a group where everyone has powers."

"Specific." He replied. Steve's voice interrupted what Pietro was going to say next.

The man brought both of them out of memory lane, but didn't bring Pietro back to Rosa. "Care to explain why that was the best memory and yet you have a look of sorrow on your face? What were you going to say to her?"

"It doesn't matter." Pietro responded, walking away from him.

By the time he got back, Rosa was pulled away to see her own memories. Rosa crossed her arms over her chest.

    "This is pointless." She mused.

"It's supposed to help with transitioning from life to death." He explained.

"It won't last. You know it won't." Rosa whispered.

Then she saw her first memory: her and her mom on the run. Not that the running part brought happiness, but it was the fact that it was just her and her mom. Next was meeting Pietro and Wanda, then Pietro getting her a jacket. All because at that point, no one had stolen or gotten something for her to make her happy. Fourth was going to the Barton's household, how welcoming and comforting both Laura and Clint were. Finally, when they were in Sokovia. She was telling Pietro to be careful.

"Why is this your best memory?" He asked.

Rosa couldn't find the answer. Well, she knew what the answer was, she just couldn't say it for some reason. She just walked away, it was like they were outside now, but Rosa knew the truth. The man followed her. "I know you know who I am."

    "Unfortunately, Charles Xavier." Rosa responded.

And there she went, walking away again.

I don't know what to put here except that I wanted to show at least one character from the X-Men early (why I chose to make Charles the one who shows them memories right after they die? I also don't know)

And that Rosa knew (there will be a next book note, but there is a sequel now published: Devil Town)

Okay, bye!
