"You seem happier these days sir"

Dave looks himself in the mirror, the custom versace suit he had on fitted him like a glove. He then turns to Frank.

"I do?"

"Of course! I think it has something to do with that fellow you brought the other day"

Dave felt his face heat up for a moment as he fixed his bowtie.

"You think so?"

Fran helped him with the bowtie, straightening it up.

"Sir, I know love when I see it. You and Mr Jack are pretty much in love"

Dave looked at his reflection again. Was it true? Did he really love Jack?

"And I said 8inches is fine but 10 is just right"

Laughter erupts in the break room. Austin takes a sip of his coffee and chokes when he saw John standing by the entrance. He walks up to him.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you"

Austin sighed.

"Look, I'm not getting in bed with you. Especially when you're still thinking about someone else"

John sighed.

"You're right but I came here to apologise to you and to invite you to my gala tomorrow night. Black and gold is the theme"

Austin eyes the invite and sighs while he took it.

"Okay but if you try anything else I'm getting a restraining order"

John chuckles and nods.

"You got it"

"And three two one, three two one, again"

Dave sighs as he got in position, he was currently practicing the waltz for tomorrow, knowing John's family, the gala will be a nationwide event.

The instructor holds his hand and the music starts to play, somehow Dave felt like he was dancing with Jack, the man's strong gaze piercing his soul.

"Mr Montgomery?"

He blinks and steps back.

"Sorry uhm....that's enough practice for the day" he says before storming out of the room.

Entering the living room, he grabs his phone and dials Jack's number.

"I'm in a meeting"

"I know, I just wanted to hear your voice"

"Are you okay?"

"Mhm....can't wait for tonight"

"Me too, look I have to go"

"Okay"

The call ends and Dave sits down, recalling the conversation he had with Frank. Was the man right? Was Dave really in love with Jack?

"See you tomorrow boss"

"Bye Austin"

He walks out of the office, holding the strap of his bag tightly as he got in the elevator. He chuckles when he thought about John. That man was relentless.

He walks out of the elevator and finds himself in the parking lot, he makes his way to his car and gets inside. His phone then rings.

"Hey mom I'm on my way home"

"Austin, come to the hospital. There's something we need to talk about"

His heart sank.

"I'm on my way"

•°• ✾ •°•

"I'm home!"  He said as he walked inside his condo, he sees the two cats playing on the couch.

"Dave?"

"In here"

He makes his way to the kitchen and smiles when he sees Dave mopping the floor.

"You're cleaning?"

Dave shrugged.

"I was bored"

Jack chuckles. Only a rich kid would clean when bored.

"Okay"

"Did you get the vegetables?"

He hisses in regret.

"I forgot"

Dave sighed.

"Jack we talked about this, how could you forget to buy vegetables two days in a row"

"I had a long day okay, plus you were home all day why didn't you buy them?"

"My car ran out of battery and your building has no charging station and why are we even arguing about this?"

"Because you made a big deal of this Dave! It's just vegetables relax!"

"What's that supposed to mean? I am relaxed, don't you see!"

Jack was confused about this argument.

"Dave what's really going on? You're not this tense over something so small. Talk to me"

Dave sighed.

"It's nothing I'm just overthinking everything. I'm sorry I yelled at you"

Jack chuckled.

"You called that yelling? I know something about yelling"

Dave hugs Jack tightly, ear on the man's chest as he wanted to hear Jack's heartbeat. He felt bad for causing unnecessary drama.

"Jack....do you...nevermind"

Jack frowned and made Dave face him.

"You can ask me anything you know that right?"

"I know....it's just....I think I'm over ambitious"

Jack smirked and pecked his lips.

"Oh really?"

"We decided to take him off life support"

"But....but why?"

Claire and the doctor share a sad look.

"Austin your father is brain dead....he is practically...dead" says the doctor, voice laced with regret.

Austin felt his heartbeat quicken in panic.

"But he's still breathing! You can't do this....mom this is your husband, my father!"

"Honey it's been years. It's time we let him go"

Austin felt like his world was crashing down. How could these people talk like this? Are they that heartless?

"If you turn that machine off....I will not speak to you again" he threatened his mother. Eyes burning with unshed tears.

Pain was evident in Claire's eyes. A tear dared to flow down her face before she uttered the words that would change her and Austin's life forever.

"Turn it off"

"Mom?!" Austin exclaimed in shock and disbelief.

The room was then filled with beeping machines, Austin rushed to his father's side, putting the oxygen mask back on his face.

"Turn it back on! TURN IT BACK ON!!"

His wails filled the room, Anthony opened his eyes and sighed, his last breath fanning Austin's face.

Austin stood there motionless, looking at his father's limp body.

"He....he's gone"
