When Remy woke, it was nearing 1pm.
"Evira! Damnit, you shoulda woke me up!" She begrudgingly stood from the sofa and trudged to the kitchen. Wiping her eyes awake, she attempted to call out for Evira again, but there was no reply.
Remy eyed the axe at the end of the door. It was strange - Evira never left her axe alone. Perhaps she was only going shopping, so there was no need for any weaponry.
She was in the middle of brushing her teeth when the doorbell rang. Slipping on her slippers, she opened the door absent-mindlessly, expecting her friend and the free-food guy. "You could've at least left a note!" She shouted, mouth still full of toothpaste.
"You're looking like a mess, as always," the guy in front of her drawled. Remy had to look up to face the tall, muscular man. It was only a day since she last saw him, but he was looking much worse off than usual. His light blonde hair was uncombed and messy, his brown eyes tired and swollen.
"Woah, what happened to you, beefy guy?" Remy said, her toothbrush frozen in her hand. "You just left us yesterday! I was worried about you."
"Worried?" One of the werewolf's eyebrows perked upwards. "Are you letting me in, or what?"
The girl rolled her eyes but opened the door to let him through anyway, before continuing to clean up in the bathroom. She returned to the living room with nutella spread on white bread and threw it at Axel. "You look freakin' starved."
He looked at it in fake surprise. "You never give out your food... Are you falling in love with me, or what?"
"Oh, shut up and eat."
Remy leaned her head back on the sofa pillow, cracking an eye open to secretly make sure Axel was eating. He was much thinner than before, his skin a sickly white. Axel was taking small bites off the bread, as if he were guilty he was enjoying such a thing. "It should fill you up," Remy explained. "For some reason, we can eat mortal food."
Axel sniffed the air. "You've been hooking up with a faerie, that's why."
"Haha, very fun-" Remy gasped. "That criminal!"
"Wait - you did?"
Remy turned back to look at Axel, eyes wide. "Evira's in trouble! She and the free-food guy just went out!"
"Free-food guy?"
"Yeah, he bought us Mcdonalds."
"Is that all a guy needs to do to win your heart?" He chuckled.
Remy glared. "The point is, Evira's in trouble -"
"I know, the news were crazy about it this morning. She and the faerie guy decided to go swimming in the River Thames." Axel roared in laughter at Remy' expression. "Seriously, how on earth did you miss the news?"
"I just woke up, alright," Remy scowled. "If you knew about it, why didn't you go and save Evira?"
"I-" He glanced at Remy, unsure of how to break the news.
"Spill it."
"Evira's a faerie herself," he said. "When I first saw her, I suspected it... She smells different compared to you-" He corrected himself quickly after noticing Remy blushing, "-and other Hellions."
Remy' mouth opened and closed again. "Why didn't she tell me?"
"It didn't seem like she knew herself either," Axel shrugged. "But she should be safe, since she's back in her home realm."
Remy chest tightened. How could Evira leave, just like that? Leaving her... with just a werewolf to keep her company?
"What are we going to do now?" Remy groaned, hugging her knees. "Adeline's turned freaking ugly and now I'm left with an equally ugly-looking werewolf."
