"Welcome to 2019's pixie race!" Queen Hermyne exclaimed, before loud, thunderous claps followed.

The dragon riders - five teams altogether - headed towards the middle of the arena, still gold from the Queen's footsteps. A banner that read "SEBASTIAN" decorated in sickly pink love hearts hovered across more than half of the audience, causing Nyx to roll her eyes beside her.

Evira caught Haku's face in the crowd. His face was sterner than usual, but he still nodded to Evira in acknowledgement.

"Evira!" Zeth called, signalling for Evira. Once she was close, he began discussing the team plan for what must have been the hundredth time this morning. "Nyx and Castor will be the ones on the path to check for any pixies coming our way, I will be-"

"Patrolling the forest to find any shortcuts and Evira be in charge of making sure other teams keep their noses to themselves," Castor sighed. "Brother, I love you, but hearing your voice 24/7 tires me out."

Nyx chuckled, tying her curly dark hair into a braid, "If there's one day where Castor and Zeth are kind to each other, it'll be the day of world peace."

She hovered over the twins with her grand height and offered a smirk. "Let's do this, team!" she bellowed and hopped into her purple dragon. Evira did the same with her dragon and patted it on its side. After a few days of training, they'd finally gotten used to each other. (Evira had emptied her wallet on meat to feed it in the process).

"Remember, magic is not allowed to be used on your teammates!" Queen Hermyne warned, receiving more sniggering from Maeve's team.

Maeve was sitting on her dragon that was currently cushioned in leather to make herself more comfortable. She was examining her perfectly crafted nails and she flicked her fake hair over her shoulder. Her armour was golden plated and screamed money - it would be like the Gucci back in the mortal realm - but Evira guessed it was better than her friend who seemed to be wearing nothing at all except from metal in necessary parts.

But the gun shot pulled Evira out of her thoughts and she directed her dragon into the air.

Castor waved his hands around himself and the dragon, sent a wink at Evira, then dashed off into the forest with his super speed magic.

Lush, green trees perked from underneath like umbrellas, shielding themselves from the blinding light and heat. A lake sat lazily in the middle of the forest, gazing at the mermaids that combed their hair on rocks and those that splashed and played in the water. Similar to the elves, except they were experts at drowning the unaware.

Tails shimmering light, Evira huffed out a shout of delight. She commanded the dragon to fly faster, her eyes still searching for a way to get to the end of the tangle of branches and leaves.

A blue pixie flew from tree to tree, but all Evira could see was a blur. The pixie squeaked something in its high pitched voice, before summoning water to shoot out of its hands in jets. Despite their miniature size, the jet of water was strong enough to almost knock Evira off her dragon.

When Evira regained her position, it was already gone.

Nyx's purple dragon followed soon after with a flash of fire that escaped from Nyx's hands as she aimed - and missed - the laughing pixie.

Turning her good eye, she managed to spot Maeve's team up on a nearby path - but they weren't on their dragons and instead perched atop the canopy of trees.

Evira quickly flew her dragon behind one of the trees, transforming it into many other trees to hide herself from their view. The ring on her finger pricked underneath her skin, but Evira paid it no attention. Her dragon perched on a branch that curved upwards like a demon's horn, and Evira watched silently, like an eagle to her prey.
