The red covering of the ring looked like peeling skin and fresh blood draining away all innocence. Evira glared at it at the foot of the bed, before picking it up from her shelf and palming the small piece of jewelry. Funny how something so small could hold such destruction.

Just like herself; she was an explosive bottle of coke hiding under a body faking calm. A being stirred with the ingredients of vigor, now being shaken to the limit that the moment her cap is released she will burst the bubble of the whole damned world.

Then the ring's vibrance dimmed, like a candle being burnt out. The heat Evira had been so accustomed to diminished, leaving just a dark background and a few flickering colours of leftover red. Evira found herself stepping back, but she kept her grip around the ring tight, even when the cold of the ring shocked every nerve on Evira's body, froze the blood in her veins.

Her hearing seemed to heighten; whispers echoed in her ear and Evira strained enough to hear familiar voices.

"Who is this?" She whispered, feeling strange talking into a ring.

The whispers continued, until footsteps approached and a face appeared. A face Evira knew it too well, despite the dirt in her curls and her bloodshot eyes screaming for sleep. "Euodias?"

"It works!" Euodias shot up, beginning a weird dance consisting of throwing her hands above her and waving it about crazily. "It works! It works!"

All at once two others came to Euodias' side - a smaller version she recognised to be Adeline, and a grumpy face belonging to Axel.

"Evie!" Adeline grinned. "Whassup?"

"We've been rotting in dirt while you're... is that armour you're wearing?" Axel squinted his eyes, coming closer to Evira's face in the projection they must have. Euodias, annoyed at Axel by disrupting her field of vision, pushed him out of the way.

Evira leaned her head back on the bed. "I've missed you guys," she sighed. She glanced at Euodias guiltily. "I'm sorry for leaving you so suddenly -"

"Demons, right?" Euodias offered. "I know, it was on the news that morning."

"Am I forgiven?"

Euodias pretended to think, putting her finger above her chin. "Hmm, only if you bring me food from Faerie. Some chicken wings would be nice."

"But seriously, why are you wearing armour?" Axel asked again, eyebrows furrowed like he was tackling some extremely hard challenge.

"I'm now a dragon-rider in Faerie," Evira replied. "Needed to earn some gold."

"A dragon rider?" Adeline gasped with an open mouth. "Damn, you've gotten cooler than Euodias."

Euodias turned her head so suddenly it looked like her neck was going to snap. "Older sister! You can't disrespect family like this!"

They chuckled and Evira couldn't help but feel like a sinking ship lost at sea. "Who's going to fill me in on the details? Why are you all three together?"

Adeline sighed, and it was only then did Evira realise she seemed to have aged years. "Axel and Euodias found me with a tracker, but we're stuck here with the other prisoners and can't find a way out."

"Where are you hiding?"

"The London Eye has an entrance, but once you're in you can't get out," came Axel's gruff voice. "We only know that everyday there is someone who comes in from Faerie to give us food, and then they leave in the early mornings."

Evira nodded slowly, trying to think of a particular Faerie that fitted the description. "Anything else?"

"An armour similar to yours," Adeline admitted. "Possibly a dragon-rider you know?"
