The ride was silent

The ride was silent. The carriage shook occasionally as the wheels rolled over the small dents and cracks that littered the birch path due to wear. Patches's mewls filled the ambiance while she lay on your lap, unaware of the tension between you and your husband. Whom was sitting the farthest away from you. If it weren't for her presence you were sure you would have died from it.

You looked out at the scenery that passed by, contemplating whether you should break the silence. Maybe you could talk about the pouring rain outside. You peeked at him through the corner of your eye. He was looking outside as well, he looked peaceful. You decided against it.

Patches whines.

You admired the house in utter awe. The walls were coated with dying roots, painting the walls and ceiling with a subtle brown. They littered the floor as well but not as much. Fluorescent trees stood every so often around the house, a product of those roots. Only lanterns glowed as a guidance for the house, nothing else, no windows, no sunlight.

You trailed behind Dream with Patches as he guided you to a giant room littered with diamonds and red roots, except these were alive and well. You didn't recognize the reasoning for the diamond decorations but you were familiar with the sanguine glow of the plant. These crimson roots and creeping vines were only associated with one species, the nether demons.

A figure emerged from one of the many corridor entrances into the room. He was tall and his voice echoed as he approached the light, "look who finally decided to show up."

His face was completely masked with darkness from his hood, only glowing white eyes made themselves known. Black horns poked out of his hood and his pointed tail floundered behind him. He looked intimidating and unpredictable. Was Dream just a cover for the true leader who lived in the shadows?

"Sorry to interrupt but what should we do with him?" The voice of another male gained your attention as the three of you turned to him. The diamonds now made sense thanks to the presence of the new male. He wore complete blue robes, matching the color of the ore. Not to mention the infused diamond that lay under his eyes, almost as if they were tears. You've never seen anything like him, he was oddly beautiful.

But that wasn't the important part, what really caught the attention of the room was the shorter handcuffed male. He rolled his eyes in annoyance as he pulled on the restraints. And what was even more strange was that he was dressed in a maid dress and wore artificial cat ears on his head.

"Take him out." You nearly gasped at the ruthlessness of the demon. No hesitation behind his words.

The maid struggled against his restraints harder, "Come on, I didn't mean to do it!"

"Yeah, yeah." The demon waved off the pleas.

The tan male laughed as he grabbed onto the handcuffs. "I'll get him out of here then. I see you have guests anyway." The maid huffed at the indifferentness of his captors as he continued his struggle while he was being dragged out.
