"Who are they?" Dream looked down at you in surprise before you suddenly came to a stop outside.
As if you have woken up from a dream you suddenly became aware of the situation you were in. Specifically, the hand that was still wrapped around Dream's wrist.
Quickly letting go of the area you turned to him, "Rose's-" You coughed, quickly correcting yourself. "My friends."
"Dream!" A small woman with bubblegum pink hair waved you two over with a giant smile. You concluded that the female must be the Manburgian ambassador based off her attire. She may give off a friendly and welcoming front but the various scars littering what her uniforms didn't cover added to her intimidating aura.
Two males stood beside her, "It's nice to finally get to meet you, my lady," the commanding one spoke with a smirk as you walked beside Dream. He was definitely older than his colleagues, his shaggy brown hair trailed down to the sides of his face; shaping his mutton chops. His ram horns stood ferociously on his head decorated with golden jewels, you tried not to cringe at the stench of alcohol wafting off him.
Socializing with people, making small talk, putting on a fake business smile...that's what Rose is good at. Not you. But that part of your sister is why Dream married her - the perfect partner.
"The honor is mine, Mr. Schlatt." You smiled with fake confidence as you held out your hand to shake.
The president's eyes widened in surprise, accepting your hand with bewilderment that he quickly covered up. "This is the first time we're meeting. How do you know my name?"
You smiled at his confusion, "I've heard my husband talk about you," you shrugged. When in reality, you just recall Rose mention him from times she stumbled upon him bothering Quackity before he started his campaign. The other male that stared quietly, you didn't recognize, but the blue onesie that was meant to represent an unknown creature to you definitely stood out.
You felt a hand resting on your hip, squeezing it gently before you felt Dream lean down whispering into your ear, "that was impressive." Heat rose up to your face, you've never been more grateful to be wearing the mask than at that moment. "Excuse us, but I must discuss something with my wife." Dream looked up at the three offering them a quick apologetic smile before pulling you farther from them.
His false grin immediately dropped as he turned you around to face him. "Ok, I need you to follow my lead Rose. We need to be as loving as possible in front of those two." He spoke lowly so that he couldn't be heard by the others.
You turned to face him, "Why? What happens if we're not?"
He let go of you, one of his hands reached up to rub at his face in annoyance at the situation. "Those two are the worst of the worst when it comes to business partners. They're stubborn as hell and they love to hold their power over me. If they aren't convinced we're 'head-over-heels' for each other, they'll pressure me to have an affair."
His tone was completely serious, but you still felt like what just left his mouth was surreal. "What? Why?" You choked out and turned to catch a quick glance at the duo he was speaking of.
You caught Schlatt cackling at what his friend muttered under his breath after he rolled his eyes. The friend glaring at you without shame and ignoring the pleas of the frantic female shushing the males in disapproval.
"They want me with someone who will further their own agenda, most likely from their court." Dream's scoff breaks the eye contact you held with Schlatt's companion and brings your attention back to him. "Now I don't want that, and I'm guessing you don't want that either." Your head nodded along with his words almost instinctually, "I agreed to this marriage because I don't want them to push around their idea anymore. I make the choices and I choose you, not whatever person they want to push for me."
You hummed in thought as you processed what he was explaining. "So we have to make them think that we're so in love, you'd never even look in another direction."
He chuckled at your explanation, realizing how crazy it sounded. "Exactly."
"Then let's put on a show." You smirked, reaching down for his hand and walking back to where the politicians were now sitting around a table.
Noticing your presence returning they all looked up, "I'd rather have lunch alone with you, Rose," Dream groaned, feigning annoyance, before bringing your intertwined hands up to his lips. His voice was just loud enough to make it seem as if he only wanted you to hear.
The female's awe could be heard from the table, her smile widening at the couple. Schlatt's face cringed with disgust at the statement while his friend made sure to let out an audible yawn at the display. "Sure, sure." He mellowed, "Why don't you two take a seat?"
"They aren't convinced." Dream whispered his concern, this time definitely saying it low enough for your ears to hear only. "The mask was a strong start, but...I need you to act like we're hopelessly in love."
You pondered the idea silently, "And I can do anything I want with you?" He suddenly appeared to light up - you realized how suggestive that sounded.
"I'm yours."
You scoffed at his response, shaking your head at how desperate he sounded when those words rolled off his tongue. "I was joking, plus you're probably being too paranoid, we'll be fine." You offered what you hoped was a reassuring smile before grabbing onto his arm and walking towards the empty seats at the table.

The building was big. And yes, you knew how big it was due to the look of it just from the outside, but the inside made the outside look like a pebble.
You had excused yourself from the lunch in order to find a washroom but so far you had no luck with that.
"Rose!"
"Yes?" You proudly turned to the caller, delighted with the fact that you had responded to the name immediately.
The male that called out to you, on the other hand, didn't look as pleased. You were stunned as you were met face to face with Wilbur Soot, your voice yelping out his name in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
"You got married?!" You cringed at the loudness of his yell.
Shit! How did Rose's lover even find you?
Arms reaching out to create space between you and the approaching male, you tried to diffuse his anger. "I can explain! Let's talk about this somewhere else!"
He wasn't having any of it, his accent becoming stronger with every shout. "No! Let's talk here! You expect me to believe you're in love with another man?!" He continued, voice getting weaker and softer now, "you break up with me over a measly letter then you're married the next day?"
He stops suddenly, catching a glance at the fright in your eyes. He had managed to back you up against a wall and although the position was intimidating at first you caught him cracking under the rush of emotions that swept him. Guilt took over you as you saw the sincere pain that gleamed over his eyes, tears barely lurking under them.
"We love each other, Rose." He whimpered finally. Although he didn't back up, instead opting to lean into your frozen body.
"Rose, what's going on?" The last voice you wanted to hear spoke. Dream.
