•EIGHTEEN
Diane wanted to make a statement, after working with Lina for almost three months, making a statement was a priority as a woman. It was just dinner at Circa but Diane wanted heads to move, whispers heard as she walked, Lina was rubbing off on her and she didn't know whether she was doing it right.
She stared at the teal blue dress from one of Adizza's designs hanging by a hook in her closet, next to it were matching blue shoes. the dress was still her style but it was way out of what she would have worn to dinner with anybody, it was more of an evening event outfit for her. Her already installed brown curly wig lay on her head as she watched Layefa's makeup tutorial for the fifth time that evening trying to get the hang of her make-up. The brow was giving what it ought to give, but the eye-shadow blending of colours was failing her so instead she settled for a natural look after not getting it right.
When she was done with her make-up, liked what she did, she stood up to wear the dress and as soon as her maid zipped her up she became anxious. She turned to Melissa, her maid and kept asking if she looked good, even after so many nods Yes Diane wasn't feeling confident, she felt she did too much but time was short from her side. Melissa walked with her downstairs and the night started with Folu whistling and making a fat joke.
"Some ass though... being hiding this all along." He chuckled as his eyes roamed around her body.
"I'm your sister dummy.. eyes away."
"And what event may you be off to?"
"Lina invited me out."
"Make-up is a little bit much from what you usually do." Diane snapped at him, not wanting to spoil her day she walked away to the car waiting for her.
Diane sat in her chair waiting for Tomide, hoping he would come and she wouldn't have to leave disappointed. She had sent him the address last night but he had not replied or read it. Before she decided to text him again, she saw him walk into the restaurant wearing a black suit looking dashing. She chuckled feeling a little better as he matched her energy.
The Waitress brought him to the reserved seat and all of a sudden the world froze as Tomide stood looking at her, she stood up smiling not letting the smile leave as she was excited to see him after a long time, his beards and hair well trimmed and groomed made him look very sexy.
They side hugged as she inhaled his cologne which made her want to stay in his arms more.
"Didn't know you were the one?" he said as they sat. "Didn't recognise you with all the make-up." He dropped his phone on the table.
She just smiled in reply, she also knew she had done too much and she regretted doing a lot of make-up but she had to do what she had to do, to make him look at her twice as he was doing even though it made her giddy.
A waiter came to get their order getting the stiff air out.
"Comfortable?.. the air is back to stiff?"
"Yeah, I am comfortable. thanks for showing up."
"Not one to stand up a date." he smacked his lips together "I would be hated forever."
"Hated? who will?"
"Rule number one, to be a gentleman never stand up your date."
"Is there a rule like that?"
"Nah I made it up." he chuckled so, did she. "Did you design the dress?"
She sipped her wine before shaking her head No "Adizza did."
"Do you design clothes too?"
"I just sketch.. designing is a different ball game."
"Fashion designing glorified name for a tailor."
