Chapter 17

Mattheo

She walks around for the next week on cloud nine. We had finally heard from the vampires and a meeting was being planned. Draco and I will be present at this meeting. My father didn't have the same history with the vampires and at the end of the day their leader was their leader for a reason. He could be ruthless and until we had an alliance with them, I would consider him a threat. The training was going well, and I found time to sneak Logan in for some private training. I would be damned if he weren't prepared even if we agreed to keep him as far away from any fighting as possible. My father was still running raids, but we only joined if necessary. We wanted to keep our group quiet until we were all prepared.

I go on the hunt for Hailey and find her with Luna and Ginny in the back yard. They are planning something and part of me wants no part in whatever those three come up with. I swear they were worse than the twins. My father was at Hogwarts today checking over how the progress of the summer program was going. Many families had fought for their kids to return home, but we had medical records that proved abuse. The ministry couldn't force us to release them without admitting they didn't care about the abuse. Other families had just given up their children and we were working on finding the best placement for them but for now they were safe in Hogwarts. The girls finally spot me, and they go quiet. I raise my brow but don't ask questions.

"Just came to let you know lunch was ready." I tell the group. Hailey smiles and walks over giving me a quick kiss.

"Thanks, girls we will finish this later." I see Ginny close a book and they walk past me leaving me and Hailey alone. I just shake my head and take her hand leading her into the house.

Lunch is a rowdy affair and I chuckle as Lucius walks in only to turn around and walk right back out. He still complained about us taking over his manor, but he secretly likes it or that is what Narcissa says.

We finish lunch just as Luna drops her fork looking panicked. I jump up and go towards her.

"What is it?"

"Bella." She whispers. I turn to my guys as my eyes widen.

"Alright I will go check in with my father and Draco go check with Rodolphus. Hailey get Narcissa just in case. The rest of you be on standby." Mattheo says and everyone begins to move.

"We will figure this out." I tell Luna but she still looks nervous. Her visions were hard for her to decipher, and I knew if she had more information, she would tell us. It doesn't take long for me to complete my assignment and I head to the meeting room to wait on word. Draco is the first to return.

"He says she is out shopping for Logan." He says.

"Did he know what stores she was going to?" I ask.

"Just that she planned to go shop in Paris to avoid being seen in Diagon Ally. She also had glamor on." I groan and slump into my chair. Paris was huge and it would take us forever to track her down. Mattheo finally arrives and I sit up hoping for some good news.

"He attempted to track her but wherever she is, isn't allowing the magic through." I try to take calming breaths, but I can feel my magic reacting to the loss of one of our own. Draco grabs my hand and squeezes.

"We will find her." He says with such conviction that I almost believe him.

"We need to have people on the ground looking for any sign of her. Our group isn't as suspicious as the others. We can split up in teams of three and search." I say making sure I have the room's attention. Tom wouldn't be able to just leave Hogwarts without raising suspicion, so I needed to step up. I refused to accept she was gone for good.
