It has been almost two months since you brought Namjoon into your lives. You set him up in the guest bedroom, good thing it wasn't the studio that Yoongi had insisted on turning it into for you when you first moved in, and you can't help but smirk at Yoongi as you listen to Namjoon hang up his new clothes in the closet.
"You didn't know that was going to happen, so don't give me that look!" Yoongi protests.
Finding a new routine was confusing at first. Namjoon didn't want to get in the way and he declined all offers for extra curricular activities that cost money or any inconvenience. You were worried to distraction that he was bored and so was Yoongi.
But as soon as you left him alone, he found his own rhythm and created his own routine. He opted to read or write in the mornings while you painted. Yoongi would come down for lunch and three of you would spend an hour together. Then when Yoongi went back upstairs, you and Namjoon would go for a walk.
Maybe it was the dog in him, but Namjoon loved going on walks. There was a park about a 15 min walk from the house that was the usual destination. A small river ran through it and he loved to sit on the bank and talk. On a few occasions the two of you talked for hours and Yoongi called to check on you because you had been gone so long.
It was like you were almost programmed to seek out affection. Slowly you found yourself seeking it from Namjoon. You started by playing with his fingers while sitting on the banks of that small river listening to him talk. Then when he was reading on the couch, he would call you over to read something to you and you would lean on his shoulders to pretend to look at what he was reading.
Then he began taking your hand when you went on your walks and he would put his head in your lap or Yoongi's to silently ask for head scratches. There was nothing he seemed to love more than to be scratched right behind his velvety ears. You loved watching Yoongi's fingers knuckle deep in Namjoon's hair and the way Namjoon's eyelids would slowly flutter close.
One day Yoongi asked Namjoon what he wrote everyday and was pleasantly surprised to find out that he was writing poetry, and it was beautiful. He began given Namjoon prompts and he loved them and dove into them with enthusiasm.
More and more often he began to ask Namjoon's opinion on song lyrics that he had already written or they would brainstorm the direction a song should take. They would sit outside on the patio and you would either curl up on Yoongi's lap or play in the yard.
Life with Namjoon feels more full, more complete. You wonder how things could possibly get better!
"You can check out up to 20 books at a time."
The three of you stand at the counter at the local library. It is the first time you and Yoongi have gone inside and to be honest, if Namjoon hadn't already plowed through every single book in your home, you wouldn't be here now.
"Want to go start looking?" Yoongi asks. Namjoon snatches up a basket and is on his way.
You smile as you watch his tail disappear down an aisle.
"I work during the day, can my hybrids come here without me to check out books?" Yoongi asks, turning back to the application.
"Certainly, as long as they have the library card, they are welcome anytime!" She smiles perkily at you, and you give her a half smile. It is like she is fishing for a compliment. What are you supposed to say? Thanks for catering to hybrids? Thanks for letting us check out a damn book on our own?
"I'm going to find Joon," You whisper to Yoongi, kissing his cheek and walking away. You meander through the library, stopping to look at the art on the walls periodically before moving on.
