There is something about Jungkook's move upstairs that shifts things. He comes out of his fort more often, curling up in the sun that comes through Yoongi's office window while Yoongi works or squishing himself into the corner of the couch to watch a movie while you paint in the kitchen.

You offer to take him with you on your afternoon walk with Namjoon, but he shakes his head hurriedly.

"That's ok, you don't need to come!" You assure him and he visibly relaxes.

"Thanks, Y/N," he says quietly. You coo as you walk past him and ruffle his hair with your hand briefly. He seems shocked at first but then a slow smile breaks his face. It makes your heart sing.

The next day you wake up excited. Today Jimin and Taehyung are coming home. The weather isn't quite as ecstatic and bright as you are. It's one of those days that feels like drinking the last dregs of summer, you're not ready for it to be over, it has been the best summer and a lot has happened.

You found and fell in love with Namjoon, befriended the quirky pair next door and now have Jungkook. All of that within the last four months.

As you paint in the kitchen, Jungkook tentatively slinks out onto the back porch and into the sun while Namjoon reads. He sits next to Namjoon with a sketchbook and begins drawing. A few days ago you had noticed him thumbing through your sketchbook, his lips twitching and his tongue reflexively flicking out to wet his lips. You wondered if it was a snake thing.

"You like drawing?" You asked nonchalantly and he just shrugged. You had Yoongi order him some art supplies and the look on his face when you presented it to him was to die for!

Since then, his sketchbook seemed to be glued to his side.

As you paint, you see Jimin's car pulling up. You quickly start cleaning your brushes and make your way outside.

"Jimin and Taehyung are home!" You tell Namjoon. As if on cue, Taehyung climbs through the fence. He is about to shout a greeting, but then he notices Jungkook. He almost looks like a predator narrowing in on his prey. You quickly abandon your spot next to Namjoon and go to cut Taehyung off. Jungkook looks in the direction you are running to and shoots up, tripping over his chair in his haste to run.

You cut Taehyung off, growling a little to get his attention and make him stop moving. You stand firm, protective. Taehyung huffs at you and lets his eyes flick to Jungkook. Namjoon is helping him retreat back into the house.

"Was that the snake?" He asks, tail twitching, occasionally flicking against your leg, "He's cute!" You punch him in the shoulder.

"Leave him alone ok, he's a little skittish."

"I go away for two weeks and you have another hybrid, I'm curious!" He half heartedly tries to get around you but you shove his shoulder back.

"You're just going to have to wait," You growl at him.

"Hmm," His eyes flick from the porch door to you and he licks his lips, "Did you miss me?" He asks slyly and you huff at him, pushing him further away from the house and to the lawn chairs by the koi pond. He wants you both to share one but you growl again and he lets up.

"I didn't miss the constant flirting," You grumble as you take your seat. He smiles wide.

"Bull shit! Now ask me about my trip!" You roll your eyes, "Come on, ask me about my trip." If he wasn't practically bouncing with excitement to tell you, you would have ignored him, but you relent.

"Fine, how was your trip?" You sigh. You are trying not to think about Jungkook and wonder if he's ok.

"It was fantastic!" He slaps your thigh and you yelp, "Jimin took me to bars and restaurants and to all the competitions too!"
