Tears running down your face, you covered your mouth as you didn't know how to react. Your arms shaking, all you could do at the moment was stare at the man before you. His blonde platinum hair shone under the bright sun as memories flashed through your mind. The times that had held your hand to escort you around the castle. The times he had fixed your hair when the wind had blown it into your face. The time he had cooked you food because you were sick.
Back then, he used to love laying his head on your legs while relaxing underneath the warm sun after both of you had a long day of work. You would always play with his silky hair as the two of you would talk about different things or just rest in the comfort of silence. Every moment that you had spent with him had been a wonderful memory and just seeing him again after a long time of waiting had made your heart beat faster in excitement.
Every time you had seen him - even though it was every day - your heart would always beat faster. There was never a single time when you didn't want to see him.
"Dain," you smiled as tears continued to run down your face.
"Y/n," Dain returned your heartwarming smile with his own as you could also see his eyes start to wet up as well.
Running up to him, you hugged him and he swung you around in wonderful and blissful joy. You grinned as a miracle had happened. To think that after all the time you had spent trying to find Dain, he had found you. It was as if the fates were finally on your side.
"Dain," you hugged his neck when he put you down. "I love you."
"Love you too y/n."
Suddenly, as if you returned to reality, you stared at him in shock. "Love you", those two words, words Dain rarely said. To think you would hear those rarely said words once again. Your heart welled up even more after hearing those two words you never thought you would hear again.
"Thank you," you muttered as you wiped away the tears. "Thank you for returning to me alive. You have no idea how much I missed you and how much I looked for you."
"Mhm," Dain replied with a nod as he hugged you once more before looking at Lumine who became a third wheeler the moment you had seen Dain.
"Lumine," you grinned.
"I'm so glad you're finally together," Lumine smiled back at you before starting her walk away. "I'll leave the two of you for your reunion."
"Are you sure?"
Nodding, she hugged you before waving goodbye.
"Thanks," you called after her, genuinely thankful for her support.
"Dain," you sat down on the ground as you looked up at him. "What have you been doing after all this time."
Sitting down next to you, Dain started to tell you stories of his time in Teyvat. He had traveled to all the different continents of Teyvat just like you - Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and even Snezhnaya. The two of you continued the conversation talking about the beauty of the different places.
"Dain," you muttered as you looked up at the sky after the good long hour of catching up. "You won't leave me again right."
"Never," Dain placed his head over your shoulder. "I don't intend on leaving you ever again and the same goes for you. I'm not letting you leave me ever."
Giggling, you put your hand on his head, "Never again."
Dain took your hand and pulled you up. Releasing your hand to hold out his own formally, he motioned in a slight bow for you to accept his invitation to dance. Smiling, you gratefully accepted his invitation knowing that it was his way of showing how much he cared. After all, one of your favorite hobbies was dancing. You knew nearly every dance and memorized it by heart and just to make you happy, he too had learned even if he didn't need to.
Dancing step by step to the song of the wind as you followed his lead, you rested your head on his chest as you hummed a slow tune that matched the pace of the dance. Twirling you around, your hair fluttered in the wind along with the small leaves dancing around you as if they were enjoying themselves.
"Thank you for saving me back then," you mumbled as you got closer to him in the embrace. "But, please don't do something like that again. It was so painful without you by my side."
"Never again," Dain swayed you around. "Without you, my world became empty. I swear to never leave your side from now."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
The two of you continued the dance. Step by step in unison, you smiled as you enjoyed the comforting silence. It was a beautiful moment, a moment that you never wanted to end. It was a dream come true, the miracle that you had wished for every day.
