Sword in front of you, you stared at the being standing before you reminding yourself that that wasn't the real Dain. That it was an imposter.
"Stop this," the fake Dain glared at you. "Let's go home now y/n. That's enough of this. Stop this before we both get hurt."
Closing your eyes, you focused on your positioning. Prepared for battle, you focused on your target and tried to imagine as one of the many enemies you had fought without hesitation. Before you could hold yourself back, you quickly propelled yourself forward with your foot pushing you. Sword held out by your face, you pushed your hand forward to stab at him. Immediately defending himself, he blocked the front of your sword with his own blade.
"Give me back Dain," you growled, planting your feet and upward slashing after the earlier block.
Dain quickly moved his head to the side to dodge which you had already predicted and adjusted your blade. His eyes widened in surprise as he tumbled backwards and fell on his back. Glaring at him, you pointed your sword at his neck.
"The Dain I know would have never fallen for that," you muttered. "Tell me, what do you want from me."
The Dain imposter kept his mouth shut as he glared at you. As he continued to refuse to talk, you pushed the sword closer to his neck. As if he wasn't even human, he didn't even react to your threats. Clicking your tongue in frustration and impatience, you slashed his neck but to your surprise, blood didn't spill. Rather, it was oil and wires.
Slashing your sword to the side, you menacingly smiled at the body. There was only one person who could ever do that. It was none other than Sandrone, the Marionette, one of the Fatui Harbingers; also your beloved sister that you had betrayed long ago.
~~~~~
"Mother! Father!," you had called out as you noticed your parents walking in the garden with another person between them.
"Y/n," they smiled as they saw your 7 year old figure.
"How are you doing my dear," your father grinned before lifting you up and spinning you around.
"I'm doing great," you smiled in bliss as you relished the time with your Father that you rarely got as he was the ruler of Khaenri'ah. "But who's that?"
You pointed at the young girl with sand colored hair holding your mom's hand. Feeling a pang of jealousy in your chest, you crossed your arms and pouted while your father tried to comfort you in the moment so you wouldn't be as pouty.
"She's your sister," your mom jumped in. "Y/n, this is Sandrone, your younger sister. Be a good sister to her and take care of her ok."
Eyes shining in excitement, you smiled, "I have a younger sister? I'll be the best older sister ever!"
"Of course you will," your mom went to pat your head.
You had constantly gone to spend time with your sister, always visiting her room with toys. Despite her being a quiet child, you enjoyed the times you had spent with her because she was the only one that you had ever played with. For years, you always followed her around to play and she simply agreed to your requests, doing whatever you wanted.
However, the blissful moments that you had known quickly turned sour when you had discovered the secret that Sandrone had held. She wasn't actually your younger sister. She wasn't even human.
When you had told your parents that you had wanted a younger sibling, they had created one using the powerful technology of Khaenri'ah and thus Sandrone was born. Not only was she created to play your younger sister, she was also created to be your secret guard. All the times that you had with her was nothing more than a code that was inputted into her. It was her duty, nothing more, nothing less.
""Why did you do this!" You shouted at your parents as tears streamed down your face. "It's not right to create another being even if it's for my sake. What happens if the people discover that you did something taboo? What's going to happen to us? What's going to happen to you? Not only that, you also played with my heart. How could you do this!"
You looked at the figure of the robot that you had known as your little sister. You couldn't look at her the same anymore. She was a being that should have never existed.
"Sweetheart," your father tried to console you as he reached his hand out to hug you.
You shoved his hand away. You couldn't help but to start to doubt everything at this point. Your parents had just done the thing that you were taught to never do - to make an artificial human. They even told you how wrong it was yet here they were doing it themselves. Hypocrites they were.
At this point in time what were you supposed to do? Who were you supposed to believe?
Would you follow your heart that said to just ignore what happened because they were the parents who you loved and the sister you had adored? Or would you follow your head and reject them because they went against everything that you were taught?
"Y/n," your mom whispered as she too tried to reach for you.
You immediately reacted and backed away before glancing at Sandrone. You bit your lip and ran. Ran as fast as you could from your family. What were you supposed to do now?
Tears rolling down your cheeks, you went to the one place you felt truly safe. Your teachers' study in the garden.
~~~~~
"Sandrone," you looked up at the sky, the sky you had looked at with her many times before. "For this, I can't forgive you. I know that part of the reason you're like this is because of me but, I can't just stand aside. I'm coming."
