The girl and the boy continued to have after school 'texting dates' as her friends called it; which only made the girl blush uncontrollably and tell them to shut up. Every time they'd pass each other in the halls, they'd smile at each other, and he'd give a cheesy wave which made the girl laugh. And in class, they continued to paint each other, usually in silence because it was how both of them worked best. But it was comfortable silence nonetheless.
While the girl was out picking up groceries, her phone began to ring loudly from its place inside her purse, bringing attention to her from other customers. With widened eyes and rushed movements, she grabbed her phone and clicked accept, figuring it was her mom. She placed her phone between the crook of her neck and her shoulder and she pushed the little shopping trolley away from the glances from curious people.
"Crap crap crap! Don't call her! Screw you Samsung and your stupid call button on messaging. Who puts that there? Why won't you stop calling? What the he-" The girl had immediately recognized who it was, when she heard a deep voice coming from her speaker; which his words made her interrupt from her giggles.
"Oh no." The voice said softly. "Please tell me you didn't hear that."
As the girl wandered down an aisle and plopped a few things on her cart, she smiler. "Sorry, I'm not a liar." She replied still giggling slightly.
"F.. Well, uhm." He mumbled, "I have to go!"
Before he could hang up, the girl said, "Wait!" And when she didn't hear him disconnect, she continued. "I.. Uh, if you wanted to talk, I.. wouldn't mind."
Rosy Cheeks was silent for awhile, and the girl nervously made her way to the next aisle she needed to be in. She was startled when he cleared his throat loudly. "I mean.. I uhm, I'm a little busy right now. That big Chem test is tomorrow and.. Yeah." He rambled, his voice sounding a bit higher than normal.
Pale Eyes stopped for a second, a frown setting upon her face. "O-oh. Alright. Have uh, fun studying then." She sighed quietly, feeling a bit more disappointed than she should.
The boy didn't hang up right away, but she could hear his breathing. "You know what, I've got plenty of time to study.." He said, his voice returning to it's normal pitch.
The girl's cheeks warmed up at his words. "I guess you do." She replied softly.
And so they talked for two hours after that, with pauses only for her to check out her items and her short ride home (where he wanted her to be safe and focused, not talking to a loser like him.)

Have a lovely day! xx
(P.s. Thank you for helping me get to #26 in short story. Although for some reason Rosy Cheeks is no longer on the chart {although is was this morning??}, I never could've imagined even getting any reads on this! Let alone 4k. You're all very lovely!)
