"Are you two together?"
_______________
Zero's brain short circuits at the question, any possible lie he could think of is now gone. He's been lying all day and making new lies every time he's been caught, how is he supposed to answer a question like this without causing suspicion.
He comes back to the present and opens his mouth to answer, but closes it when no sound comes out.
"Zero..." Kaien calls softly, "You can tell me, you know? There's nothing you can say or do that will ever cause anything between us to sour." He assures, "I will always support you."
Zero stares at him with growing longing. He really wants to tell him. Having that extra support, especially with this whole picture thing going on, and everything else this past few weeks... It would be good to have someone around he can confided to. But sadly, it's too much of a risk for him to reveal their secret.
"I know." He speaks, "But it's nothing like that. He has been helping me with my vampire side." Zero admits, mumbling the last part.
His master stares at him with a frown, "Do I need to... ?"
Zero shakes his head. "No, nothing like that. It's more of confusion." He corrects, seeing their confused faces. He sighs and flops down into his chair. "There's something wrong with me. I'm having a hard time with controlling my emotions and I'm not even classifed as any of the levels of vampires."
"According to Kuran and Takuma, I'm doing things no Level D or C should be able to do." He finishes. "That's why me and him are in Christiana and together in those photos."
They both give him blank looks, and Kaien stands up. "Why didn't you say so? I can help you with that." He grins, patting Zero shoulder. "Let me go make some calls and I'll see what I can do."
"Okay." Zero agrees, watching him walk out the living room. He turns to his master and sighs. "You believe me?"
"You don't lie without a reason Zero." Toga shrugs, following after Kaien.
Zero flops down into on the couch and tosses his head back. This has been a really disastrous two days, and all the lying he is having to do has given him a headache.

Zero spins around slowly in Kaien chair. He types out another message to Kaname while giving out absentmindly answers to Kaien statements.
It has been a week since the two photos dropped and the whole event at the academy. A few days after the second photo had hit the media, the hunter association had called and put Zero on leave while they put him under an investigation.
At first he was pissed off the assumpations they were painting on him, but after a reassuring talk with Kaien; he decided that this break could be good for him and allow him more freedom to look into his family history and figure out his vampire side, without worry of his secret being revealed.
"You know, your father kept very old tomes that was passed down from your ancestors." Kaien spoke, dropping two small notebooks on his desk. He looks at Zero, "Want to go see if they are still in your old house?"
Zero glance up at him, raising an eyebrow. "I thought someone had bought that place by now. Is still there?" He cease his spinning and lays his feet on top of Kaien desk.
"Of course. After.. everything, I made sure that house was just put on lockdown." Kaien admits, giving Zero a small smile. "I didn't think it would be right to just storage everything and allow someone else in there."
