Kaien raises an eyebrow at him. "Your family history? What exactly do you want to know about?"

"What's so special about my family? Does my last name have so special meaning? Why does me being part of the bloodline, have hunters around here look at me with anger?" Zero questions looking at him.

"Anger? Zero, if they are looking at you like that, it may be because your part of the founding families of hunters, and you haven't advanced in rank." Kaien comments. "Anything else about your family, you need to read about. Downstairs in the library, there should be a book-"

"If I wanted to read a book about my family history, I wouldn't be here. I came here, to my father," He makes quotations around, "To have him tell me information, a looked over, council approved book won't tell me." He interrupts crossing his arms.

"Zero, the BOOK I'm talking about will give you all the answers to your questions and more." He insists on giving him a serious look. "Just go there and find a book in the historian section called Halo."

Zero stares at him, taken back from the switch he made from his usual cheerful self to serious. He nods at what he said, confused by the push he is making towards him reading the book. "Why can't you tell me anything?"

Kaien looks down at the floor hearing Zero question. "Because I promised your parents that if you ever start to get curious about your family history and they aren't around to help, I would direct to you that book." He answers softly, looking back at him. "I can't tell you anything till you find it out for yourself. I'm sorry Zero."

Zero knows when Kaien is being serious or just his playful self and right now, he is being very serious. Kaien knows just mentioning his parents, makes him upset and puts him in a bad mood for days. For him to tell him this...it must be important.

Zero nods standing up. He twists his fingers, not knowing what to say. No matter how he feels towards calling Kaien his father, he can't deny that without him taking him in and helping him out when his master was being an ass, he wouldn't be the teenager he is now. He trusts him.

"Thank you.." He mumbles looking down at his hands. "Father."

Kaien sits there on his desk in shock.  Tears start appearing in his eyes. "Did you...call me father?" His voice cracks at the end.

Zero groans before nodding his head. Kaien cheers, getting off the desk and dragging Zero into a bear hug. "I knew one day you would call me that. I promise I'm not trying to take anyone's spot, my sweet son."

He groans hearing what he called him. "Alright, we are done," Zero said pulling Kaien off him. "You ruined it calling me sweet."

Kaien pouts. "But you are my sweet son." He mumbles moving back on his desk. He crosses his legs looking at him, "How was the meetings?"

"Uh, long and aggravating. One of the hunters in the first one was glaring at me like we knew each other and I kind of got into it with him." He shrugged as he moves to sit beside Kaien on the desk.
