The next morning, I woke up to the birds chirping outside. It was a Saturday morning and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It looked kind of chilly outside because the palm trees were waving in the wind. I blinked a couple of times then rolled onto my back. I stared at the ceiling and thought about the day before that I had spent with Noah. I smiled at the thought of him.

After a couple of minutes I sat up and stretched my arms as far as I could upwards. I groaned a little before I stood up and put a hoodie on. I gathered my tangled hair into a messy bun and walked downstairs. I could hear the sound of the news in the living room and the sound of Ethan clinging his spoon on the side of his cereal bowl.

“Hi, sweetie!” My dad chirped and I walked passed him.

“Morning,” I reply.

“Emma!” Ethan shouts as I walk into the kitchen where he is eating breakfast.

“Hey, superstar,” I smiled, brushing his dirty blond hair back. Ethan focuses on his cereal again and starts shoving spoonfuls into his mouth. I roll my eyes and walk to the fridge. I pull out a bagel and some orange juice. After making my breakfast, I walk into the living room and sit on the couch next to my dad.

“How was last night?” He asked.

I smiled and said, “Fun.”

“What did you do?”

“I went to the beach,”

“Who did you go with?”

“Oh just a friend I've know for a while,”

“Who? Do I know her?”

“Actually, it's a he.”

“Oh..” His voice deepened and his eyes glared at me protectively.

“Who?” He asked again.

“Noah Hanson,”

“Oh, the boy you've always had a crush on?”

“Dad!” I said embarrassed.

He chuckled and said, “Well I hope you had a good time. What are your plans for today?”

“I think I'm going to go over to Maddie's in a little bit,”

“Okay,”

Our conversation about plans ended and he started catching me up on current events. Twenty minutes and fifty stories later, I kissed him on the forehead and walked up to my room. I turned on the radio and opened my window. The breeze drifted into my room and made it feel even closer to summer. Only three more weeks, I thought.

Just then, my cell phone buzzed.

Morning, love! Come over whenever. Maddie texted.

Okay, I'm going to throw on some clothes and be there in 10. I replied.

Kk :) Maddie responded.

I threw my phone onto my bed and walked to my closet. I picked out a pair of denim shorts and a white Abercrombie and Fitch tank top. I slipped on a pair of my favorite flip flops and walked over to my make-up desk. I lightly coated my already dark and long eyelashes with mascara.

Five minutes later, I was up and ready to go over to Maddie's.

“Bye, Daddy,” I said on the way out the door.

I trotted over to Maddie's, opened the door without an invitation, and walked up to her room.

“Hey,” I said as I walked in the door.
