ACT I: PART II
chapter 2: 'can we be this close forever and ever?'Xavier once more wakes up to the sun creeping in from the window behind him and groans as he gets up and prepares for the day. A normal morning would include him waking Dustin up and making them both breakfast and leaving a note to their mom dictating where they'd be after school. However, this wasn't a normal morning. He was running late and late meant he wasn't making a meal or gathering Dustin and his things. He grabs his backpack, keys, and goes to check Dustin's room and notices that he's already gone, there was no note either. (A small part of Xavier's mind rationed that he was at school and that he was safe. Another part was paranoid that Dustin wasn't at school). A small sigh exits his lips as he walks to his car throwing the backpack in his passenger seat and drives to the Byers' house.
He arrives, turns the car off and knocks on the door waiting for the older boy.
"Hey," Jonathan says as he opens the door.
Jonathan's hand was on the door knob and he walked forward away from the door, letting Xavier in.
"Hey yourself Jonathan," Xavier replies as he walks in closing the door behind him. "Any news?"
Jonathan shakes his head and grabs a piece of paper. He stands there in the kitchen looking at Xaiver. The pair stares at each other, silence engulfing the room.
"Did you uh... need something?" Jonathan asked.
Xavier shook his head, "I'm just checking up on you," he mumbles. "wanted to see if you needed help with anything."
Jonathan opened his mouth and closed it again, staring at Xaiver.
"...Jonathan?" He speaks after a moment of silence.
"Yeah, yeah uhm... copies for the- the missing poster," he replied. Jonathan was skittish, his head turned away and his hand clutching the paper.
Xaiver nodded, "My car it out front," he said. "Unless you wanna drive your own car?"
Jonathan shook his head. "Your.." Joanthan paused, thinking. "Your car," he concludes, nodding. He grabs his backpack, jacket and walks out the door. "Come on Xavi." he calls.
Xavier turns to follow Jonathan out of the Byers house and hummed as he got into his car and David Bowie started playing through his stereo (radios choice). Xavier drove to the copy shop and waited inside his car for Jonathan. He turned to look at the busy street, people shopping minding their own business. His arm on the car door, he was biting his nails. He turned to the sound of the car door opening and smiled softy at Jonathan.
"Okay I got... copies for the flyer to put up and ..." Jonathan started and turned his body to look at Xaiver. "I need a favor Xavi."
Xavier frowned slightly and raised his eyebrow. "Whatever you need man."
"I need you to drive me to my dad's house," he says rather quickly. "after school I mean." the older boy clarifies. His fingers, picking at a hang nail.
Xaiver nodded and they drove to school, the ride was quite apart from the music strumming quietly through the car. He pulled into the school and grabbed some flyers from between the two of them. The pair walked to school and Jonathan started to put a flyer up, Xaiver standing next to him, leaning against the wall. He frowned slightly in confusion as Nancy walked up to the two of them and he stood up, pushing himself off the wall.
