"Samu said I should give this ta ya," Atsumu said boredly, pushing a wrapped onigiri to the bored-looking, fox-looking, tired looking, bitchy looking, individual. "He's talkin' to a teacher about christ knows what."
Lies. Atsumu knew his twin was using the bathroom but anything to make it seem as if he was going to take long and get Rintarou to start eating the food.
"Really? Swear I saw him go to the bathroom," Rintarou said with narrowed eyes, pulling the food closer anyways because Osamu whipped up some damn good onigiri.
"Nah, he went there ta wash his hands after a messy science class," Atsumu lied, again.
Rintarou sighed, unwrapping his food and with a slow yet firm bite, clamped down on the Osamu assumed prepared food.
A look of horror crossed his face and as he spat the contents of his mouth into a napkin at the crude taste, a bone-chilling glare directed at the bottle blond twin─ who looked seconds away from passing out due to holding in his breath to prevent a boisterous guffaw which resulted in him suddenly forgetting how to breathe.
"What. The. Fuck. Is this shit? Samu did not make this garbage," Rintarou whispered venomously.
"No. I did. Made the filling with yer preferences. Onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers," Atsumu snickered with crossed arms, seemingly finding his breath again in seconds.
The reaction was too nonchalant. The posture was too nonchalant. The fact that he probably thought that he could get away with that was too nonchalant.
That was enough to have the normally exasperated but nonaggressive Rintarou take action and lunge across the table, both toppling to the ground as fists began flying and teeth began clamping down on each other. It was a fight for life.
Okay, mayhaps Rintarou was aggressive but, that was only concerned when Atsumu was present because overall, he was normally collected towards others.
So as they rolled on the ground with angry swears and promises to crush their skulls with a damn rock, Osamu walked in to see the mess and let out a sigh, calmly pushing his way through the crowds and picking up his best friend's concerningly light body from off of his twin. As to not accidentally have them go at each other again, Osamu wrapped his arms around his best friend, effectively trapping his arms down and putting his back to his twin so they wouldn't see each other.
Atsumu wouldn't dare punch Osamu lest both of them go at the blond twin together. He knew not to do that after experiencing it before.
Several times actually.
"Ya both gonna tell me what's goin' on or else I'm askin' Rin's parents ta let him stay at our house."
That in itself was a 'threat.'
Atsumu and Rintarou didn't get along for shit, and Rintarou knew he wouldn't be able to indulge in snacks.
Yeah, he could steal all of Atsumu's ones but that would only result in a fight and Osamu glaring at him. To add on, Rintarou always shared a bed with his best friend and the bad part about that was the fact that Atsumu happened to share that room as well. His parents also so happened to love Osamu which meant they'd definitely agree without a second thought.
All in all, staying in the Miya household after a fight with his least favourite twin would be hell. He might as well go commit murder and he'd end up in the same place once he'd be given death sentence.
Hell.
"It's Atsu's fault," Rintarou accused immediately, crossing his arms as he wiggled himself to scoot his chair closer to Osamu, using him as protection.
"He lunged at me first!"
"I don't give a shit about those things. The hell did Tsumu do?"
"Why me?! Why do ya-"
"He stuffed an onigiri with onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers and said you sent it for me."
If Atsumu thought he'd never see the pearly gates, well now he knew he'd never because the moment Osamu began yelling at him and promising his downfall, Atsumu could feel himself praying as he mentally ascended but his soul descended. Rintarou smiled smugly at him, eating from Osamu's bento box and happily stealing the homemade fries because he was the only one who would come out alive after eating all of the silver-haired's food.
Rintarou was at peace after he heard Osamu state that he wouldn't be cooking for Atsumu any time soon, all of his snacks would disappear within twenty-four hours, and if he tried doing anything else, the person he had an embarrassingly huge crush on would find out.
All serious blows. All because everyone could safely assume that Osamu had a favourite.
Rintarou knew he'd live in peace for at least two weeks before the blond would begin being snarky again.
At least he'd be more or less okay for a while.
._._.
Rintarou's parents loved Osamu.
That didn't mean that they loved their own biological son.
Far from it.
"Rintarou, the hell is this?" His Mother asked as she went through his test papers. "You failed? I did not have a son if all he can do is bring home shit grades. Why aren't you more like Osamu? Huh? Why can't you be better? Why can't you make me proud?"
Rintarou inhaled deeply, feeling a migraine form in him. It was always his best friend they used to make everything so bad, which made it worse because Osamu was the kindest soul─ not to his twin though─ and if he ever found out what his parents were really like, he would honestly just about take an hour or two crying into his best friends chest because he would never let him stay there. Osamu would immediately get him out and that's what made it all the more devastating.
He'd never allow Rintarou to suffer and no way in hell would he leave it unsettled. He'd probably go all out and sue them or some shit.
Osamu didn't have to know.
"Sorry. Guess I'm just bad at Math or, a seventy is actually a pass and you're over-exaggerating," Rintarou bit back, unwilling to deal with that. "And Osamu is horrible at Math, you wouldn't want me to do horribly in all subjects if he helped me, would you?"
Mrs Suna glared deeply, Rintarou unfazed as she pointed her finger in the direction of his room.
"Go and don't you dare come back until you promise to be better."
Rintarou nodded at the seething woman, sighing as he locked himself in his room.
His room was kind of stuffy and hot, resulting in him taking off his shirt but as he walked past his cracked mirror─ thanks to damn Atsumu who had thrown a shoe and ended up hitting it─ he frowned upon seeing that his body was looking a bit thinner than usual.
He ate. He really did and he had no problem with the things he did like but he was active. He liked sports and all the junk with excessive calories didn't seem as if they were excessive enough. Settling into his bed, he pulled out a basket of snacks from under his bed because surely, he wouldn't be eating dinner that night.
He indulged, satisfied with the crunching because as long as he could hear the noise in his ears, that meant he didn't have to hear the loud laughter of his parents and their friends that were arriving in the living room. He didn't have to hear his own thoughts and he sure as hell didn't have to hear the sounds of the universe reminding him where he stood on damn Earth.
He could listen to his own thoughts and long to have his own set of parents that treated him well all the time and not just when his best friend or both twins were at his house. A set of parents like the Miya parents. His dream parents.
