Now, you may be wondering, Why am I doing this? Well here it is: I want you to understand that I am a different person, a borderline antisocial teen who has Asperger's Syndrome, in Senior High School.
I'm a Victor Marching Blue Devil, in the colorguard, the best in the state of New York. I have performed in Navy Stadium, MetLife Stadium, and Welcome Stadium, and the Carrier Dome. The Victor Colorguard won best colorguard in the category of field visual. But, my colorguard friends know me. I'm the loudest member, and my senior year is my last year. I love that guard, and I will miss it and them.
Now, Victor. In my school years, there were some student deaths. When I was in 8th grade, there were two fellow student deaths: Lauren Vassello and Jack Martin. Lauren was in the same grade as me, and she was in the same Spanish 2 class as well. I never knew her well, but I knew that she had cancer, and she died because of it. Jack, well, he had Down Syndrome, and he was beloved by all. He was the stepbrother of a friend of mine, and she was upset when he died. Jack Martin died in his sleep. The junior varsity basketball team dedicated their season to him. Last year, another death happened to a Victor Alumni. Alex Davis died because of an overdose of cocaine and pcp. And last summer, a senior died because of a pulmonary embolism. His name is Tyler Hutt. He is the most memorable person in school. He was part of the Victor Varsity Football Team, and he was a Buffalo Bills Fan, and he had health problems, from what I know of. He is missed so much that there is a scholarship in memory of him. There is a tag for him: it's #TylerStrong.
So yes, I know. My school apparently had some student deaths. None of them I knew well. Here's the thing: Nobody talks about Lauren or Jack, because I know that it hurts too much for their friends and family. Tyler Hutt is the, the model friend. I admit, I never knew about him because I'm a grade lower than he was.
Go ahead, show your sympathy for me. I just wanted to tell their stories, help them spread. Maybe I am their storyteller.
