For the rest of the day, I lay on Matt's couch, doing the bare minimum of watching television and researching more about Frank Castle, based on the few files Matt has on him and their talks between trying to hurt each other.
Night has fallen as Matt and I are both cuddled next to each other, my eyes burning from reading the small print for the past 2 hours.
Suddenly Matt's head twitches catching my attention.
"What's going on?" I ask, folding the papers in my lap.
"Frank...I've got to go." He says before standing up briskly, making my body slip forward slightly from him just getting up so quick.
"I'll come with," I add, getting up from the couch as well.
"I don't think-" Matt starts but I cut him off.
"I'm tired of not doing shit, I'm coming regardless," I tell Matt as I start to undress myself and put on my suit.
Matt stays quiet for a second before nodding and grabbing his suit as well.

We enter the dungy underground building, the humid air making me want to gag despite my mask covering hald my face. The walls are stained and multiple screams escape the dark passage ways that are lit by dim yellow lightbulbs.
As Matt and I walk through we see a bloody Frank, on his knees surrounded by dead men.
Matt looks down at him disappointed, while Frank could give less of a care. He pants and points at the dead Irish gang members.
"They're gonna pay. Every last goddamn one of 'em." Frank spits, his voice is deep and groggy.
"They will, but not tonight. Move." Matt commands out of nowhere signaling someone coming down the hallway.
We all move to the side, ready to attack.
Just then 5 men come running in, guns ready to shoot. All three of us jump out, Frank and I aiming to kill while Matt unarms us both.
"Stop it," Matt growls at me as he holds my spear firmly in his hands. "What is wrong with you." He breathes out before pulling it out of my hands and throwing it to the ground. I kick one of the Irishmen behind him before stealing one of Matt's batons and throwing it at the same man, striking him in between the eyes.
"No killing!" Matt yells before letting me go to grab a hold of Frank's hammer, breaking it in half.
"Alter boy." Frank spits.
"Who just saved your ass." Matt counters before grabbing Frank by the waist and hoisting him up while I grab my spear and tuck it into my hoister.
"Yeah yeah." Frank grunts in pain, holding his bleeding side as Matt tries to help him walk.
I grab onto Frank's other side, as we exit the Irishmen's lair.
"Don't want to get Miss. Angelica's white suit bloody." Frank jokes with a blood-stained smile.
"I own a washing machine." I counter as I huff from carrying the buff man up a steep grassy hill that belongs to a graveyard.
He laughs before coughing from the stress on his body.
Matt points to a close tomb, placing Franks down against it to catch our breath.
"Hey, not bad," Frank tells us.
"Thanks..." Matt sighs as he stretches his back.
"I guess I was wrong," Frank says with pursed lips.
"About?" Matt queries.
"About you being a pussy." Frank says with a smile causing me to let out a laugh.
"Don't get all sweet on me now, Frank," Matt says with a chuckle but as Frank starts to join in he starts to cough up blood.
"Helps on the way, Frank." I tell him as I kneel down to his level and look over his wounds despite it being 11 pm and the moon being my only source of light.
"Nah, you two should get going...I'm past saving." Frank sighs as he rests his head back, looking up at the stars. I roll my lips in my mouth and place a hand on his shoulder while Matt aslo crouches down on the other side of Frank.
It's quiet for a moment before Frank looks at Matt.
"You would have made one hell of a marine, Red." He whispers but Matt shakes his head.
"What does the rhyme mean?" Matt asks making m look over at him confused.
"...You heard that?" Frank asks with shocked eyes.
"Yeah, I heard it."
"Man, I've gotta say. Sometimes I think you really might be the devil." Frank scoffs before licking his lips. "One batch, two batch, penny, and dime...It was her favorite book." Frank says, his voice cracking.
"I come back from war, the easy part was killing...but going back home..." Frank starts before scoffing and shaking his head. "I go get her from school, no idea that Daddy's home. She sees me, I see her, and in an instant she's across the classroom in my arms. She holding on so tight, she's balling but shit it doesn't beat mine." Frank states with a laugh as he tells his story. I sit on the patchy grass beside him as I look at his eyes get teary.
"We go back home, my wife, boy, home... it's all the same. But for the first time, I was so goddamn tired. couldn't even take a sip of a beer type tired. But not my girl, she was up. But she wanted me to tuck her in. She outgrew it, she knew...I knew. But she wanted me to tuck her in." He explains as he starts to cry his voice starts to break.
"She begged. She begged Red. And...And I said 'no, daddy's too tired. I'll read it to you tomorrow night. I promise'." Franks whispers and my heart sinks knowing where this is going.
"But there wouldn't be a tomorrow night for her. The next morning I'm holding her lifeless body in my arms. Meat was spilling out of her, where her face used to be." Frank describes making me close my eyes in sorrow, when I open them back I see a tear roll down Matt's face.
"...Yeah. I think I'm done, Red." Frank sighs as his tear-filled eyes look away from me, the sounds of sirens coming closer and closer but none of us move.
The police come, flashlight and gun pointed at us as they yell for Matt and I to stand with our hands up.
"Guns fired, should have known it was you." The officer says, I squint my eyes and see that it's Foggy's friend.
"I've got something for you," Matt says before nodding to Frank that is still on the grassy floor.
"That's him...cover him and call EMS!" The officer yells at the other before taking out handcuffs.
"You are a massive pain in my ass." He tells Matt as he places handcuffs on his wrists before looking up at me. "And you stay right there, don't move an inch!" He yells at me.
"Wasn't planning on it," I say in an annoyed tone and roll my eyes.
"Take the collar, say you caught him. It can't be me." Matt explains lowly to the officer.
"Why?" Is all he says.
"To protect the kitchen," Matt whispers.
"Fuck..." The office curses before taking the cuffs off of MAtt making me lower my raised hand that rested over my head.
"Go! I don't know what you two are, but I know you aren't like him." The officer says before his eyes land on me. I give him a curt nod before running into the darkness, Matt right beside me as we hear the sky rumble with thunder.
