Daeva's POV:

Water falls from the shower head, hitting me on the top of the head. Closing my eyes I feel it pour down my blood-soaked hair and down my face.

I lift my heavy arms to my now longer red hair in order to rake my fingers through. Blood strikes my fingertips as I brush the blood out of my hair. Redwater stains Matt's white bathtub as what feels like hours of scrubbing dried blood off my body

After I feel all the blood has been taken off I shut off the boiling water, letting it trickle slightly. Reaching for a towel, I wrap it against my damp body before exiting the tub completely.

I dry myself off and pull at Matt's cotton robe that hangs behind the door. Tying it tightly to my body I swipe my hand quickly against the fogged-up mirror, revealing myself between the gray mist.

Bags are prominent under my eyes, small veins popping out from overuse of my powers. Closing my eyes I hear the screams of the men I've killed and see their blood painting the walls.

With a shake of my head, I rid my thoughts and open the door, already knowing Matt is sitting on his sofa waiting for me.

The new morning heat seeps into the apartment while car horns blare as rush hour approaches.

"Morning," I speak to Matt who slowly creeps behind the wall, trying his best to not be seen.

He clears his throat and walks out, scratching his neck as he mumbles back a 'good morning'.

I slowly walk to his coffee table that barely stands on its own, taking a seat as my eyes scan the quite broken apartment. Matt's footsteps sound behind me as he grabs a seat in front of me, fixing up the table to make it seem neater.

"Sorry, the place is a bit of a mess." He murmurs almost to himself as he quickly makes the table seem presentable.

"Matt...are you okay?" I ask him with furrowed brows, since the last time I've seen him he was shot to the abdomen. His head perks up, eyebrows raised.

"Me?" He scoffs with a dry laugh. "Eva, you're the one who got taken. And you're asking about me..." He trails off in disbelief. Biting the inside of my lip, I slowly shift the chair closer to him grabbing his hands in mine.

"Yeah..." I whimper simply, not knowing really what to say. He frowns downwardly to himself as he chuckles lowly.

"You still find ways to amaze me." He speaks with a shake of his head causing me to squeeze his hands.

"Matt, I love you. So yeah, humor me if I worry for the man that I love." I clarify as I look into his eyes that I've missed greatly.

"Daeva...I missed you. I'm so sorry." He whispers as his voice cracks slightly.

"Sorry for what? What happened wasn't your fault, you know that right?" I question him with furrowed brows.

"If it wasn't for me, he would have never found you. Never have hurt you... take you." He cries, bending his head down to hide. I stand from my seat, letting go of his hand as I walk closer to him. Nudging my way between his legs, I place both hands on his face, lifting it so he looks up at me from his seated position.

"If it wasn't for you I would never know what love is. Never have felt such happiness. So yeah it came with a few consequences, but you will always be worth it." I explain as I wipe away a stray tear off his cheek with my thumb.

"Matt, I'd do anything for you," I whisper as I feel his arms wrap around my waist.

"I don't deserve you." He groans as he pulls me closer into his hold.

"No, you deserve the world angel." I hum, placing my lips on the top of his head.
