The Alpha's Mate

Chapter-2

Ashley's POV

Great. I have to pass him to get to my car. Josh comes up behind me and says, "should I drop you ?"

"What about my car ?" I ask. Although I was secretly hoping to go with him.

"You wanna go through that ?"

"Actually.... on second thought...."

"Knew it ! Hop on."

I smile and go with him towards his motorcycle. I look back at him to find his expression raging a little. But when he sees me he quickly covers it up. I sit behind Josh on his motorcycle.

"Take me home. I don't really feel like going to school today."

"Should I stay with you ?" He asks once we are on the road.

"No it's okay."

"Alright"

I see a black Porsche behind us in the rearview mirror. But I shrug it off. We finally reach my home. I live in thew city in an apartment. Most werewolves prefer staying with the pack but I wanted to live in the city. My apartment is at the 23 floor. It has a great view. And I love to see city lights at night.

I wave Josh. And see that the black Porsche is stopped just few meters behind him. The glass is tinted. I can't see who it is. I go into the lift and press for 23 floor.

Once I reach it, I open my apartment and go in. My dog, Bruno, comes wagging it's tail. It's a German Shepard. It goes on its two and stands up to me. He licks my neck and I pat him on the head. I love him.

I close the door. And go to my balcony. I see someone coming from the Porsche. I gasp at who I see coming out. It's Alpha Cole. As if sensing my gaze he looks up. We lock eyes for a couple of seconds before I dash inside my apartment closing Tue balcony. I quickly lock all door and Windows.

'Why is he here ?'

I don't know. Maybe so he could reject us. Or kill us. Someone like him would feel no remorse killing a girl. Mate or no mate.

'Please don't say that.'

I am sorry.

The bell rings. My heartbeats erratically. I don't want to die.

'It's him.'

"Open the door, Ashley" his icy cold voice comes in through the door.

"N....no" I manage to get out.

"I won't hurt you. I just want to talk." He says, his voice soft a little.

I don't want to. But my feet have a mind of their own. I unlock it. And the door opens to reveal him. I take a deep breath. If he tries to kill me today, I won't be able to defend myself. Maybe school was a better idea after all. Bruno comes into the room barking at Alpha Cole. He changed his eye color to golden and narrows his eyes at Bruno.

Bruno quiets down and scurries off. Traitor.

This time I really look at him.

'Damn he is hot.'

Hey hold it.

'But he is.'

You did not really think that, right now. I belong in an asylum.

"Can I come in ?" He asks.

I step aside and let him in.

"What did you want to talk about ?" It takes me everything in me to show no fear at all.

"You know about.... the fact.... that we are.... connected." He says. He can't even say mates. So he is here to reject me. Okay. Fair enough.

"Okay. I know that you are here to reject me, Alpha Cole. So lets just get it over with."

"I am not here to reject you."

"Then why are you here."

"We didn't talk about us being.... connected so I wanted to clear the air."

"Okay"

"Everything is fine between us. Right ? We don't need each other"

"Yeah" I manage to get out even though my heart breaks a little.

"Alright. I will get going."

"Will I see you again ?" The question is out before I think it through.

"No"

'What ? He doesn't even reject us. And he says were dont even need each other. Tell him to make up his mind.'

Well I don't. Cuz it would be better than to get on his bad side.

'Well right'

He walks out without sparing me a glance. Wow. He is cold. So distant. He had a rock for a heart. That kind of person won't even be compatible with me. We are polar opposites.

'But he is our mate.'

I know. But he is so.... Hard. I don't know what to do. It's fixed then. I will go on with my life. Just as I was till now. I don't need a man, if he doesn't need me.
