The Alpha's Mate

Chapter-1

Ashley's POV

His pack and him were coming here today, to sign some peace treaty. Whatever. As long as he doesn't attack our pack. Cuz, I know too well that our pack won't survive it. Even though we've put up a façade he knows we won't be able to defend himself.

I am one of the people going to the pack house to witness this. Our alpha, Alpha Drake, asked three of his pack members to witness this. And I have to go.

Why did he choose me ? I mean I am still a high school student. Ugh....

'Well I don't mind.'

My wolf, Winter says. Of course she doesn't. She hates school.

'With a passion.'

She adds. Awesome.

So here I am wearing a black fitted dress with my hair hanging by my waist. I step out the door and advance to my car. I drive up to the pack house. Our pack house isn't exactly a pack house since its not that big. It's small. Only the Alpha Family and some workers stay here.

Let's get this over with. So I can go to school.

'Hey'

Yeah, Yeah.

As soon as I am about to knock the door I am hit by the most amazing scent. It smells like forest.

'Mate'

Winter says. Mate. A smile crepts up my lips. So I knock on the door. A muffled, 'come in' is heard and I step in. The smell is stronger. Josh is standing beside Alpha Drake. He is his son and the next Alpha. For a moment I think he is my mate. But he is not fazed by the scent.

'Thats cuz he is not. Turn around.'

If that's not him and there's is only us three form our pack, it means someone form his pack. I don't turn around and stay glued to my place like I am not affected. But in reality it's eating me alive. His pack is said to be the most ruthless one. One can only hope your are not the mate to any pack members.

"Hi, Ashley. This is Alpha Cole. He is here to sign the treaty. We were just negociating. You and Josh can pull up a chair." Alpha Drake says.

"Okay" I say.

"Hey, Ash. I saved you a seat." Josh says.

I walk up to him and take the seat. It takes everything in me to not look up and find out who my mate is. But I don't wanna be tortured. I mean he would've known by now that I am his mate and he has made no move towards me. So that means that he doesn't want me.

Winter whimpers at the thought. And honestly even I do. No matter how much I don't want him or I avoid him but he is my mate. He will always affect me. People start talking. I don't hear his voice however. But I am dying to know who he is.

I slowly peek up and I am captured by his icy blue orbs. He looks so hard. And his aura screams power. And he is not the beta. So might he be.... No no no no. I am not paired with the most ruthless killing machines on earth.

I quickly turn away and gulp audibly.

'Why are you doing this ?'

Winter asks.

Because he will only hurt us.

She blocks me out. Great. Note the sarcasm.

"Okay. Drake. I will sign this treaty only under one condition." His icy cold voice slices the silence. It sends shivers down my spine. Everyone is quiet listening to him. I risk a glance at him. But he is not looking at me. He is looking at Josh. I was unconsciously holding Josh's hands. I quickly let go earning a questioning look from him.

I mind link him, 'explain you later'

"And what would that be ?" Alpha Drake asks. He looks away and looks at Alpha Drake.

"I want you to allow us the permission to trespass your territory anytime we want." Alpha Drake opens his mouth to object but he holds up a finger, "Let me finish. No harm done. I can guarantee you no one. I repeat no one form my pack will harm anyone from yours. Think of it as security. No harm will come to anyone from your pack."

Alpha Drake seems in deep thought. "Okay. Alpha Cole."

'What ? He did not just say that'

'I know. How can he do that ?'

Alpha Cole picks up his pen to sign. As soon as he signs, he gets up and leaves the room.

"Dad, why would you do that ? You know what hold that thought. We are late for school and I need to go. I will talk when we are home." Josh says. He is a good guy and my best friend.

We walk out the door in silence. I am still confused and hurt by his actions. If he doesn't want me then why hasn't he rejected me yet ?

As I am out the pack house and to my car I see his car parked next to mine. Guess he will reject us now. He hasn't left yet. But he is standing there talking to his pack mates.

Sensing my presence he turns his head to me, his expression emotionless. There is no love or care or any other emotions you see in the eyes of your mate for you. There is only hurt and coldness.
