The other woman

Unsurprisingly unpleasant

"Marie!" I exclaimed looking at her in disbelief "I am not going to fuck Nicholas" I said so that only she can hear. 

"You need to save Alvaro from the clutches of that evil woman" She said in a serious tone but broke character and started laughing "But in all seriousness if anything where to happen between you two id be your guys number one fan" She said then continued "If he leaves his wife for you he'll be leaving one crazy for a different type of crazy" she said trying to hold back her laughter. 

"Okay lets not bring up my stay in the special resort" I said rolling my eyes. 

"You're right I'm sorry, but I understand now why Alvaro is chasing you around like a lost puppy" She said. 

"You know at this point I'm not even going to deny anything because you are just going to keep on going. I'm just not going to say anything at all" I replied my eyes glued to my screen as I tried to focus on my emails. 

"Yeah that's best because I'm just gonna keep on going" She added gleefully. I rolled my eyes at her comment. 

Marie and I continued working and soon we realized it was time to go home, my favorite time of the day. Marie started picking right at 4:00 even though we don't clock out until 4:30. 

"Sorry girl I have to take my girl to soccer practice and it starts at 4:30, see you tomorrow!" she said and ran out the office. 

"Bye Marie!" I called after her. I decided to start packing up as well since I was practically the only one left in the building. I put my laptop and charger in my bag and organized my desk, I did one last check around the office to make sure everything was good before locking the office. 

As I was about to leave the building Nicholas rushed in almost bumping into me. "Sorry I didn't see you there, leaving already?" He asked 

"Yeah I actually get to leave on time today" I said smiling. 

"Before you leave do you think you could unlock my office? I forgot my keys and I need to get some files"  He asked. 

"Sure! You're lucky you came in just in time, I was about leave" I said as we both walked towards his office. 

"Yeah lucky me" He mumbled while checking his watch. 

We continued walking towards his office in what felt like awkward silence. Once we got there I quickly unlocked his office and stepped aside and he walked in. 

"So... Hows the case going?" I asked as I watched him rummage through some files. 

"Its going okay" he said while still looking through his files. 

"So any juicy details you want to share?" I asked jokingly referring to the last time he went to the office to give Marie and I scandalous details about his case. 

"You know I can't talk about my case to just anyone, only lawyers" He said in a monotonous voice still not looking at me. Well damn, okay. 

"Okay, umm well I have to go so I'll see you tomorrow" I said backing away slowly and then quickly turning and speed walking out of the building. 

Once I stepped outside I let my mind wonder to what Nicholas' problem was, I mean sure he's not always nice and he does look like he can make people cry just by looking at them. But he was never unpleasant with me. 

I brushed off our conversation and drove home, ready to relax in my couch and eat ice cream while watching my favorite show. The drive home was fast with little to no traffic, I felt the weight on my shoulders suddenly disappear as soon as I stepped into my apartment. I quickly changed in to my pajamas, got my fluffy blanket, my ben and jerrys tub and turned on my favorite show and got myself situated in on the couch. 

I was fully relaxed and content when I hear an obnoxious noise coming from outside my apartment, and then loud knocking followed by an annoying voice "El! I left the key you gave me  in the kitchen!" and suddenly the peace and relaxation is gone. 

I groaned loudly while getting up to open the front door. "I hear that" Arlo said as he came in with takeout from my favorite Chinese restaurant "Tell me you love me because i got you your favorite food" he said holding up the bag. 

"I love you, now lets eat" I said, we both got our food and sat on the couch together. 

"So how was work" Arlo asked me and I shrugged while chewing on my food "It was alright, had lots of work, the usual" I replied. "And you?" I asked 

"I have a big project coming up that they let me take the lead on" He explained, Arlo is an architect still pretty new in the field since it wasn't that long ago that he graduated. 

"Thats good! Congrats Arlo" I said happy for him. He smiled back at me then leaned towards me to steal one of my dumplings. 

"Dude! those are mine" I exclaimed punching him lightly. "You said you loved me!" He exclaimed back while rubbing the spot I punched and then we both started laughing. 

After a while of laughing and watching two movies I decided it was time for bed. "The night is still young Elena, lets keep laughing and watching movies" Arlo said trying to convince me to stay up with him. 

"Arlo it's late we both have work tomorrow, and you have your big project so you need all the rest you can get" I said as I was picking up the mess we made in the living room. 

"I hate your responsible side sometimes" He said narrowing his eyes at me. 

"Go to sleep Arlo!" I called after him as closed the door to my room. "But I don't want to!" I heard him whine, I rolled my eyes as I got comfy in my bed and soon drifted off to sleep.

My alarm clock woke me up like it does every morning and I immediately started getting ready work. Deciding to wear a nice black pantsuit set that I had just bought with some black heels, I finished my makeup and hair and stepped out of my room. Arlo was on the kitchen island eating cereal when he saw me, "Oh damn! You look amazing Elena, wanna have a quicky before work?" He asked walking towards me. 

"Arlo shut up" I said rolling my eyes but laughing at him because that's just how Arlo is, you either love him or hate him. 

"I'm just kidding El, unless you want to then who am I to deny you of that" He said with his charming little smile. 

"Come on Arlo lets go" I said as I got my bag and briefcase, he followed me out the door as we headed towards our cars. 

"I'll see you later" He called out as he got in his car and drove away. I started my drive towards work while jamming out to Bad Bunny, of course. 

As soon as I parked my car in the building parking lot my phone started ringing and saw it was Marie "Hey girl what's up?" I asked while walking into the building. 

"I'm so sorry but I'm not going into work today, Harley was up all night sick and I'm taking her to the hospital right now" She rushed out 

"Oh no its okay don't worry! let me know how Harley is doing and please don't worry about today" I said and she quickly thanked me before hanging up. 

I walked into the office and set my things down and got myself settled in. "Looks like I'm by myself today" I mumbled while typing on my laptop. 

"Please let this be an easy day" I prayed out loud. 

"I'm going to need a lot of help today with research they just moved up one of my hearings" Nicholas said as he walked in to the office "Wheres Marie I'm going to need all the help I can get" He asked looking around with a stern look on his face. 

"No Marie today just me" I said looking up at him from behind my desk. 

"Okay well come on let's get started, these are all the files you need to pull out as quickly as possible and then contact the court for ...." I quickly got my notepad and started writing down everything he needed. 

"Report back to me when you got all that done and you need to be quick with it" He said then left the office. 

"Of course today isn't going to be an easy day because when do I ever get my way" I sighed.
