The other woman

The Note.

"Okay so spill!" Arlo exclaimed as we got ourself comfy on the couch with our food and wine.

I told Arlo everything. From the moment Nicholas asked to talk to me, him lecturing me, me blowing up on Nicholas, and Nicholas trying to talk to me again after work.

"You called him Mr. Alvaro instead of Nicholas?! Damn El you're ruthless girl" Arlo said in a mocking tone and I glared at him.

"Okay okay, I'm actually impressed how professional you kept it. I know it hurt him when you rejected him in the parking lot though" Arlo said taking a bite from his California roll, he's basic like that.

"I honestly don't think that man even cared" I said.

"You want my honest opinion Elena?" He asked "Not really" I replied taking a bite of my own food.

"Well I'm gonna give it to you any way" he said rolling his eyes, "I think this man feels a certain way towards you" He explained.

"Yeah, he hates me" - "No stupid! I think he likes likes you!" Arlo practically yelled in my face.

"First of all, don't yell at me, second of all this man has been nothing but rude towards me. Granted he apologized the last time he was rude to me, but he did it again today." I said trying to reason with Arlo's crazy thoughts.

"Well El, think about it. The only time he's been rude to you has been when he's seen us together. He sees me as a threat there for acts out. Trust me I'm a man I know a thing or two about getting territorial" He said in a smug tone and I couldn't help but glare at him.

"Arlo if I hear another stupid thing like that come out of your mouth I'm kicking you out" I said with a disgusted look on my face.

"Yeah I can see how that came off a bit douchy" he mumbled back.

"Either way, I would never see Nicholas that way much less sleep with him. So please, lets not talk about him anymore I'm already nervous to see him tomorrow especially how I blew him off today" I said in a somber tone.

"Can we watch New Girl?" Arlo asked taking the control to the tv. "Yeah what season do you want to watch?" I asked "All of them" "Lets just start with season 3"

I woke up when I heard the alarm on my phone ringing. I reached over and glared at my phone screen reading the time 6:00 am. I groaned, dreading today, at least Marie will be in.

I got out of my bed and headed straight to my bathroom to take a much needed hot shower. I played some music to try and lighten up my mood, maybe if I fake a good mood It'll turn into a good day.

When stepped out of the shower I decided to take my time with getting ready today. From blow-drying my hair, my makeup, down to deciding what to wear. I decided to wear black tailored slacks with a black satin button up blouse and a Chanel blazer my mother had gifted me a couple of years ago.

Once I was satisfied with my appearance I grabbed my bag, keys, and badge and mentally prepared myself for work.

"Hey you look hot" Arlo said and I turned to look at him still in his pjs. "Are you not going in to work today?" I questioned him as I looked at my watch and it said 7:30 am.

"Yeah but I don't go in until eleven today" He replied casually and took a bite from his food.

"Well that's nice. I'm off don't make too much of a mess or invite any of your hook ups over" I said as I opened the door to my apartment.

"Don't worry you're the only person I want to hook up with Ellie" He said in a sickly sweet voice.

"Disgusting" I fake gagged, "You keep forgetting how we met El" he said smirking.

"It was one time!" I raised my voice slightly "You want me so bad, I know it" he said in a sing song voice as he walked back to his room "Stop being delusional!" I yelled after him.

"I hate him" I mumbled to myself as I rushed out of my apartment building as I was running a couple of minutes behind my regular schedule.

I was worried that the traffic in Denver was going to be horrific with everyone trying to get to work but God was on my side for once. I speed down the streets as I made my way to work.

Once I pulled into the parking I immediately saw Marie's car and sighed a breath of relief. That moment was short lived when I saw Alvaro's car pull up right next to mine, I know this man parked next to me on purpose.

I decided to wait in my car until Alvaro got out of his so I can avoid a conversation with him. I recline my seat back so that he couldn't see me through his window, I took a little peak and saw him having what looked like a very headed discussion on his phone.

Five long minutes later I heard I heard a car door open and slam shut so loud I swear my car shook. After three more minutes I decided that the coast was clear and I slowly started collecting my things and got out of my car. As I walked into the building and headed straight to my desk I could feel someone behind me almost as they were my shadow.

As I passed through some glass windows I could see through my peripheral vision a tall and muscular figure that I knew right away to be Alvaro. I tried to keep my composure as he followed me into mine and Marie's shared office.

"Goodmorning El! and Alvaro?" Marie said looking to me as she said Alvaro's name with a questioning look on her face.

"Morning Marie I missed you" I said with a smile that was directed towards Marie. "Good morning Marie" Alvaro added as he stood my the front entrance.

"Is there something we can help you with Mr. Alvaro?" I asked him without bothering to look up at him.

"Yes actually Ms. De Santiago, here is a list of documents I need pulled by twelve today. Bring them to my office before then if you can" He explained as he walked in front of my desk to hand me a yellow post it with writing on it.

I grabbed it without looking at it and placed it next to my laptop, "Will do Mr. Alvaro" I replied. He gave me a strange look that I have never seen on his face before and gave a curt nod as he turned on his heels and walked out of the office.

"Well that wasn't awkward at all" Marie joked and I rolled my eyes, "He is just a weird man is all" I explained hoping Marie would drop the subject. "Whatever you say bitch, I'm going on a coffee run I'll bring back your usual" Marie said "Thank you I love you!" I called after her as she walked out the office.

I turned to face my laptop, ready to start on the list of documents Alvaro needed. I picked up the post it note to read it but to my surprise it wasn't a list of documents, it was a message from Alvaro.

"I'm very sorry Elena,

please come see me

in my office when you

can - Nicholas"

"Why did he sign his name I obviously know it's from him" I sighed and placed the post it note in one of my drawers. "This is giving me anxiety and heartburn" I mumbled as I prepared myself for this very interesting day ahead of me by shoving two tums in my mouth.
