Sitting in Nicholas' office I started to get nervous. What did this man want to talk about? Is he going to yell at me? Am I going to yell at him? So many possibilities. I tried to calm myself down but before I could even try to do that I heard his office door open, I straightened by back and tried to best to relax my face.
"Sorry about that" Nicholas said as he went back to sitting at the edge of his desk and giving me his full attention.
"Yeah yeah it's all good" I replied in a low voice trying to avoid eye contact. "So what did you want to discuss?" I asked him acting as casually as I could.
"Ms. De Santiago, I would just like to comment that I did not appreciate the unprofessionalism that I witnessed earlier today. Having a non employee present where sensitive information is stored is not only unprofessional but completely irresponsible - " before Nicholas could continue I interrupted him.
"With all due respect Mr. Alvaro, Arlo is technically employed by this company. He is the new lead architect for the companies new building that's being constructed. He is on the companies payroll. Now I am sorry that you were clearly offended by Arlo being present in the office, but I take my job very seriously and I do not appreciate the accusations towards me and my supposed unprofessionalism. If you have any further problems with me or my work ethic, please take it up with Mr. Lawrence and HR" I stood up from my seat giving him a cold look and started walking towards the door to make a haste exit.
Before I could leave I turned to look at him one last time "Have a good day Mr. Alvaro" then I was out the door and went straight to my office to seethe in my anger.
I sat in front of my computer glaring at the screen as I replayed his words in my head. I was so angry I'm pretty sure I had smoke coming out of my ears. How dare Nicholas speak to me like that! He is no one to be talking to me like that, he is not my boss! I swear to good if that man ever speaks to me like that again I will-
"Hello good afternoon Ms. De Santiago, would you be so kind as to help me email this to the court?" I paused my seething and turned to look at Mr. Cove and instantly smiled at him.
"Hello there Mr. Cove! Of course, how are you today?" I asked him as I took the documents he handed me.
"I'm well dear how are you today?" he asked with a smile.
"It's been a day but nothing I can't handle" I replied
"I'm sure there's nothing you can't handle Ms. De Santiago, have a good rest of your day" He waved as he left the office, I smiled at him before returning back to work.
I spent the rest of the day in silence. I turned off my music and all you could hear was me typing away on my computer, Nicholas didn't dare show his face in my office for the rest of the day and I'm honestly glad he didn't because then I would have wanted to throw hands with this man. I whole heartedly believe that I could take him.
As soon as I saw that it was time to go I immediately grabbed my stuff and practically ran towards the door. As I was speed walking towards my car I was sending a text to Arlo to remind him about the wine since I know this guy forgot.
"El? Can I speak to you for a moment? Please?" I turned around to see Nicholas standing there with his briefcase in hand.
"Yeah no, I have to go maybe tomorrow during our office hours" I replied as I turned and kept walking towards my car. Am I a petty person? Yes I am, I have no shame in that it's who I am as a person.
As I drove towards my apartment I listened to Bad Bunny to try and relax myself from the events of today praying that Arlo got the wine.
Once I was standing in front of my apartment door I took one deep breath before opening the door.
"Arlo I swear to god you better have gotten the wine or else I'm sending you back to your own apartment" I yelled out as I took off my heels.
"Yes ma'am, something tells me this has something to do with the grumpy man in your office" Arlo said as he handed me a glass filled to the brim with wine.
"How did you know?" I asked taking the glass from him and taking a long sip.
"It was an educated guess, he looks like he has issues. Although I know you Elena Rose not just anyone can get under your skin like this" He paused so he can take a sip of his wine, he looked at me again and his eyes widened slightly.
"Elena! Are you fucking the grumpy man?!" Arlo exclaimed and I almost spit out the wine I was drinking.
"Arlo! I am not sleeping with this man!" I exclaimed back "And I'm honestly hurt that you would say that to me" I said rolling my eyes.
"I mean the man is not ugly" he said giving me a look.
"The man is also married Arlo" I explained to him while waving my hand dismissively.
"Oh so scandalous" He said with a stupid little grin.
"Wipe that stupid grin off your face" I voiced my thoughts, I walked passed him towards my room so I can change into my pjs.
"I'm just kidding El, just trying to annoy you." He said following me to my room and sitting on my bed.
"Yeah sure go ahead just remember who's housing your ass" I grabbed my pjs and went into my bathroom to change.
"Don't be shy change out here!" Arlo called out after me.
"Stop being a creep Arlo" I replied and closed the door behind me. I quickly changed into my comfy pjs and stepped out of my bathroom to find Arlo laying on my bed.
"So spill it, what else did grumpy do to piss you off" He asked as he followed me out to the living room.
"lets order some food first, then I'll spill everything" I said and grabbed my phone to order takeout from my favorite sushi place.
"El please no sushi"
"Shut up- Hi! I'd like to place an order!"
"Fine but I'm finishing the wine by myself"
