Chapter Thirteen
Percy and I were walking to Cabin 10. He still had cuts and bruises, but he wasn’t bleeding anymore and we were both still reeling.
Chiron had forced everyone to disband and go to their cabin. He held Percy and me behind, only to tell us that he had to talk to us- something important. He told us to get as much training in as we could in the next few days. He also told us- though it was mostly directed to Percy- that in two days time, he had to talk to us about something very important.
I had no idea what it was, but Chiron looked at us with so much fear in his eyes that I couldn’t help but feel scared myself. And I definitely knew the nymphs and satyrs were nervous- the nymphs branches shook as Percy and I walked by, and some of the satyrs had tears in their eyes, or looked really nervous. I heard a couple of them muttering, “Is it true? Was…..stolen?” “Yeah……summer solstice…..war…”
Well, I got bits and pieces, but they definitely scared me.
Something was stolen…Something about the summer solstice (which was about a week and a half away)….and finally, something about a war.
How lovely.

Percy and I didn’t talk the whole way to Cabin 10. When we reached the porch, I didn’t say a word as I hugged him goodbye. I didn’t say a word as I waved, watching his figure slowly get smaller and smaller as he walked back to Cabin 3. I didn’t say a word as I went inside and lay down on my bed, just wanting to sleep.
However, Rose and Silena had better ideas.
“So….what’re you planning on doing tomorrow?” Silena asked nonchalantly. I raised my head to look at her, suspicion flooding my face.
“Um…why do you ask?”
“Oh, no reason, it’s not like you’re busy…YOU ONLY HAVE A DATE WITH LUKE FREAKING CASTELLAN!” She exclaimed, standing up from her own bed, putting her hands on her hips. I jumped a foot in the air, my eyes wide.
Dang…I had forgotten about that….
I stood up slowly, so I wouldn’t see stars from getting up too fast. I closed my eyes tight before saying anything.
“Okay….first, can you PLEASE not shout? I’m fairly sure they heard you in the Underworld,” I said, giving them both a pointed look, “And second….I completely forgot about that….”
Rose snorted. “Well, don’t tell him that! You’ll break his poor heart! Speaking of tha-“
“Um, what’re you planning on wearing?” Silena cut in, sounding nervous, not taking her eyes off Rose, who shot her a confused look. Silena shot one back that said, “Just go with it.”
I ignored it, for the sake of whatever sanity I had left.
“Um….I was thinking some jeans, my high tops, and a tee?” I said, though it came out like a question, as if I was asking permission.
They shared another look, but this time it was filled with something else: pity.
“Oh, no, no, no, that won’t do,” said Silena, wagging her finger at me as she crossed over to Rose’s bed and grabbed a bag from underneath. Rose unzipped the bag and brought something out. I saw a flash of red, but nothing more. When she turned, she held whatever it was behind her back, a huge, barely contained smile on her face.
Oh. No.

The next day, I found myself in the arena, training that hardest I ever had- which was saying something. Tonight…I had a date.
