Chapter Seventeen
Darren's POV
I was sick and tired of Violet Wilde. True, I’d had only one conversation with her, honestly, she’d been really nice and all, but Tristan was going on and on and on and on....And, at this point, I was just waiting for him to just pop the frigging question already.
"Did you hear what I said, Ren?" he asks exasperatedly, during another one of his rants about her. I look up briefly from 'Chariot and Charioteer'.
"Hmf? Oh, yeah, Tris. Every word," I say, looking back down at the magazine.
He sighs, grabs the magazine out of my hands, despite my cry of anger. He grabs me by the wrist, and drags me out of the cabin.
"What the holy Hephaestus, Tristan!?" I say angrily.
"Shut up," he scolds, "Look!" he points to a girl, walking toward the Demeter cabin right across from ours.
Violet.
She’s crying, that much is obvious. She’s walking hurriedly, as if she couldn’t possibly get to her destination fast enough. Also like she’s trying to avoid someone, I can see that by the way she looks worriedly over her shoulder. I feel bad for her. I want to run outside and protect her from whoever she’s running from.
Oh no....this can be good.
Holy Hephaestus NO!
Tristan's POV
Darren looked constipated and frustrated at the same time. It was all I could do not to burst out laughing. He was staring at Violet as if in a trance, his eyebrows furrowed, though.
I snapped in his face. He looked at me, alarmed.
"Are you okay, bro?" I ask.
"Huh? What? No! I mean...yes, I'm fine," he says, immediately tensing, his eyes looking from one place to another like crazy, only avoiding looking me in the eye.
"Okay....weirdo...." I say, under my breath so he can't hear.
By the way he visibly calms down, I can tell he doesn’t have a clue I can read him like a book.
This can't possibly be good.
I know the look he was giving her.
Darren's POV
I can't believe this.
I am officially the world’s worst brother.
Tris has been going on about this girl since she got here. It was like love at first sight with him. He’d spent all his time trying to pluck up the courage to talk to her, planning what he would say. When he finally had talked to her, he was overjoyed for days, and even more so when she came up to him and started talking. He really liked her.
And I just HAD to decide that I like her too.
I am the worst.
"Why don't we go talk to her?" Tristan suggests, obviously not seeing the look on her face, though I nod stiffly, hoping that she’s turned into a horrible person overnight.
What a horrible thing to hope for….
Violet's POV
I needed to talk to Camellia. She seemed like one of those people that you could go to for advice, you know? That, and you know, I hadn't talked to her in a million years. I didn’t want to make her sad or anything by talking about Luke with her, because I see the way she looks at him and Dominic, but…I don’t know, I just had to talk to her.
