I couldn't wrap my head around the concept. Jay was the blue ninja. I'd been hearing about the ninja team non-stop from Lloyd. To think that I knew and sparked up a romance with one of them... the odds were infinitesimal.
And yet, I don't know how I didn't see it sooner. Wu's boys' club were the ninja. Zane and Cole also had to be ninja. Cole had to be the black one. And Zane had to be the white one. And the red ninja... I had a guess on who he was. But I didn't want to believe that one.
Misako found me on the floor of the museum not long after Jay left.
"Nya!" she yelled, running up to me.
"Where is Lloyd? And where are the ninja?" I said immediately. I wanted to ask her if Jay was coming back for me. But I hesitated. Did Misako know Jay was the blue ninja? She had to, right? She called the ninja whenever she couldn't find Lloyd. And she was researching scrolls about the ninja and 'prophecy'. She had to be in on it.
Did Lloyd know?! No, he seemed genuinely confused about all the ninja jargon when reunited with his father. Although Lloyd was a good liar, I knew his tell.
"The ninja left after defeating the Stone Warrior. And Lloyd is with his uncle," Misako said. Jay broke his promise. He didn't come back for me. At least both Jay and Lloyd are safe.
"I heard that you got an injury," Misako said, inspecting my swollen ankle, "Why were you and Lloyd even here?"
"Lloyd wanted to see the ninja," I lied.
"That's not what Lloyd said when I talked to him," Misako said. She gazed at my ankle, refusing to meet my eyes.
"What did he say?" I said. Misako sighed.
"You're going to need ice," she said, "And lots of bed rest. You might've broken your ankle."
"I just rolled it," I insisted.
"Excuse me for not taking you at your word. I'm going to move your foot around," she paused lifting my ankle up, "How long have you been visiting my husband?"
I hesitated. Misako finally looked up at me. Her grey eyes pierced through me, making it impossible for me to lie to her. She looked utterly heartbroken. Although, I didn't understand why my training under Garmadon would break her heart.
"Since the Serpentine kidnapped Lloyd," I said.
"He's dangerous," Misako said, "I guess I never explicitly said this, but you can't see him. And you definitely cannot take Lloyd to see him!"
Misako squeezed my ankle ever so slightly. I winced. She gently twisted it around, feeling for anything to diagnose my injury.
"Why will no one tell me what's going on? If I knew, maybe I'd make better decisions," I said.
"In time, Nya," she said, "There's a time for everything. You will know everything. But as for now, secrets are best. You're right, it's not broken but this is serious."
"Why? I mean, why keep secrets?"
"Nya, this secret isn't mine. It belongs to someone who does not feel comfortable with you invading their life. Secrets aren't always bad," Misako said.
"Then I shouldn't get in trouble for seeing Lord Garmadon behind your back," I said.
"You're not in trouble," Misako sighed, "But we do have to rethink a few things."
Misako placed my ankle onto the stack of books. She sat down next to me, smoothing her stray grey hair back.
"Do you know the effects the venom of the Great Devourer has on a person?" Misako said.
