The School Dance

Bright lights were hung all around the gym. Streamers and balloons were everywhere. Fake stars hung from the ceiling. The people sitting down without a date looked hopeful at the newcomers before sadly looking back down to see that we had dates. A jock from our brother school walked up to Thalia and stared at her.

"Dance with me babe," he said to her.

Thalia stomped on his foot aggressively and gestured for him to leave.

"I hate those types of guys!" She said angrily.

"You and me both girl," I replied. "I like dark headed, water loving, not- so -smart guys.

"Ya!"Percy cheered. "I hope that was a compliment," he then added.

Two guys walked towards us, one grabbed Chloe's arm, a old gesture, then the other one one snaked his arm around Kaylee's waist. The one with Chloe held out his hand.

"Hi I'm Jake"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Percy."

"I'm Annabeth." I smiled.

"And I'm Kaylee."

Jake had brown hair with light blue eyes, and tan skin. He was tall, a few inches shorter than Percy. With slight muscles. He was pretty handsome.

The other boy with Kaylee had blonde hair that fell gently into his brown eyes. He was about the same height as Jake, but with bigger muscles. He was also cute.

"Hi I'm Kyle,"he said.

"Hi," we chorused.

"Well you guys ready to have some fun!"Percy announced, breaking the ice.

The two couples left to dance. Thalia went to get some punch. It left just Percy and I. I looked at Percy. He was looking around the gymnasium in awe. I had to admit they did a great job in transforming the place. It was all gold and blue. The dim light was casting a romantic feel everywhere. I was slowly falling under the trance of this school dance. I've never been to one of these, I always thought they were stupid. Then Percy came along and made me sound like a lovesick Aphrodite girl. I hate it when he makes me feel like that. But deep down I loved it.

I snapped out if my trance when Percy snapped his fingers in front of my face.

"Oh sorry," I said.

"It okay," he gave me his goofy grin, that I learned to love over the years. I grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the dance floor, like Thalia did once with Grover. I chuckled softly at that memory.

"What's that Wise Girl?" He questioned his head tilted.

I giggled even more then replied, "Just thinking of our third year at the one school dance where we rescued Nico."

"Oh yes memories, memories," he sighed.

"Yeah and you asked who to dance with right in front of me!" I said mockingly.

"Oh yeah..." He said uneasily, rubbing his hand through his hair.

"That's when I started to like you, I mentally cursed myself when I clamped my hands on your shoulders really tight and quickly," I stated.

"I noticed that," he confessed. "But I didn't think of it much at the moment."

"Well duh that's why I call you Seaweed Brain, Seaweed Brain, your oblivious!" I said.

"Haha, I'm laughing on the inside." He said.

I laughed at his joke and he just stared at me with his beautiful green eyes. 'Why did he have to be so wonderful.' I thought. I kissed him softly on his cheek.

The song suddenly changed into a different song. I recognized it as 'All About Us By He Is We' (love that song you guys should listen to it.) It wasn't the slowest song, but all around us couples started slow dancing. I sneaked a glance at Percy. He flashed me his perfect smile. I wrapped my arms around his neck, then he snaked his around my waist. We danced to the music slowly. My gaze never left his.

"The room's hush hush,

and now it's our moment,

take it in, feel it all, and hold it.

Eyes on me, eyes on you,

we're doing this right"

At the end of this Percy pulled me closer. I leaned into his chest, and breathed in his ocean like scent. It intoxicated me and I swayed to the music with him.

"Cause lovers dance with a feel in love,

Spotlight shining its all about us,

It's all, about us."

Confession time: I'm 17 years old and totally in love. He probably deserved somebody better than me. But he stayed loyal, and liked me anyways. And I loved him. He made that all powerful, cold Annabeth disappear. He made me smile, I felt so happy when I was with him. He completed me.

I closed my eyes and melted into his arms. His strong arms wrapped around me protectively.

"It's all

About us!"

That's how I felt, like nothing else mattered. The world could be wiped out, and I would have felt safe and sound in his arms.

I felt his hand under my chin. I titled my head over to see Percy leaning in. I leaned in slow, then smashed my lips against him. They moved in perfect motion. I ran my left arm around his neck, and my right arm ran through his hair.

"I love you," I mummered into his neck. I stopped myself quickly.

"Oh Percy, I'm sorry," he silenced me with a kiss.

" I love you to, Annabeth," he said.

Oh my gods he just told me he loved me. He really did.

I leaned back into his chest as another song started. It was faster, but we didn't care. We slow danced to the song.

"Hey Annabeth," he said.

"Yeah," I said not removing my head from his neck.

"I got you something," he said. That got my attention,really.

He pulled out a small square package. Inside was that beautiful owl necklace we saw at the shop.

"Oh Percy! I cried.

"Do you like it?" He asked

"I love it!" I exclaimed.

He placed the necklace around my neck. I held it on my chest.

"It's beautiful, just like you." He complicated.

I just smiled at my hopeless romantic. Emphasis on MY

I kissed him once more, not paying attention to the world around me. That night was pure bliss.
