Grant's POV:I asked Ellie if we should get started and she shrugged at me, so I've taken that as a yes because we don't have much time before Tobey's free and he's not free for very long.
"Lean back in the chair for me, princess," I say, moving behind the chair and gently putting my hands on her shoulders to guide them back. "I'm just going to lean the chair back, okay?"
She nods.
Whilst the chair is going back, I go over to the sink to wash my hands, pick up a pair of gloves and put them on, a mask, and sit back underneath Ellie's head. I gently rub my thumbs up and down her cheeks to try and help her relax a little. Once I could see that Ellie had relaxed a little, I put my mask over my mouth and nose and moved the light down over Ellie's mouth.
"Open your mouth nice and wide for me, baby," I say, picking up my mirror. "I'm just going to have a look at your chips, okay? That's all for now," I said, smiling down at her.
Ellie's POV:
At the minute I'm kind of scared but I don't want to kick up a fuss with Grant, so I just try to stay as calm as I can. Weirdly, I'm not as scared as I normally am but I guess it's because I know that Grant is only going to fix my chip when Tobey's in the room with us and he's not here at the minute. Plus, all Grant is doing right now is looking at my chip with a mirror and his fingers so it's not that bad.
"You're doing so well, E. I won't be much longer." I try to smile back to Grant but it's really difficult with your mouth open and someone's hands are in it. He chuckles at my attempt.
About a minute later, he's finished and says that I can sit up. He moves around so he is in front of me and stands up, holding his arms out.
"Come here, E!" I get up and hug him, "You did so good! That's the first time you haven't had a panic attack in the chair! Good job!"
I smile in his arms. "It wasn't that long though was it?"
He pulls away slightly and says, "No, but you still didn't panic about it so I'm proud of you. Do you still just want one chip fixed today? Or do you feel like you could have them all done?"
My facial expression completely changed; I went from being quite happy to immediately scared and anxious. I knew being happy here wouldn't last that long.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm not going to force you. Just say whatever you feel comfortable with."
"Just one.." I say, quietly.
Grant pulls me into a hug again, "That's totally fine, E. I just wanted to ask you, so you could have the choice."
Tobey's POV:
It's 5:25pm, and I have just finished with my last patient before Ellie, which is really annoying since it means that I have overrun by 5 mins. I cleaned and tidied up as quickly as I could so I could get to Ellie and Grant. I also put a note on my schedule to tell Ruby that I am overrunning by 5 minutes so she can warn my patient after Ellie that I may be a few minutes late.
I make my way to Grant's office, as I'm assuming that's where they would be, and I knock on the door.
Grant's POV:
When Ellie and I hear a knock on the door, I walk over to it, leaving Ellie standing by the dental chair.
"Hiya, Tobey!" I say, greeting him.
"Hi, mate. Hi Ellie. Sorry I'm a bit late, I overrun with my last patient but I've told Ruby to warn my patient after this so it should be okay."
"Okay, mate," I say, walking to sit back on my stool, Tobey also doing so.
