A drop of rainwater sides off the cracked roof onto my outstretched hand. I hurriedly bring it to my parched lips, drinking it greedily. An echo sounds through the cement prison as an access card meets the keypad on the other side of the door. That could only mean one thing....they are coming. I thought they were going to Washington today! Two men, 'my' guards, walk in. I would have killed these jerks a long, long time ago if it weren't for the collar around my neck, disabling my power, and the chains securing me to my prison floor. At least the collar makes me look normal. "Stryker wants you, Jadie-Poow. Seems he took that little trip to D.C. yesterday instead of today, and his bosses gave him clearance to do his little experiment on you." Robert says, pulling out his low voltage electricity stick with a smirk. Bill, my other guard, unhooks me from the floor and I see his hands shake slightly. "Aww, what's wrong, Bill? Maybe you're a little too scared for this job." I mock. He meets my eye and shakes again. "Shut up, mutant." He manages after a pause. "Don't fight us today, Jade." Roberts says in a sing-song voice. He pull me to my feet and I laugh. "What's the fun in that?" I do a complete back flip, landing on Bill's shoulders. Robert tries to hit me with his electrifying stick but I turn and it comes down hard on Bill's shoulder, making him scream. "It hurts, doesn't it, bitch? Imagine if you were a five foot, teenage girl." I snarl in his ear. I kick the stick out of Robert's hand and wrap my legs around his neck until he passes out. I turn to see Bill fumbling with a walkie talkie and I smack it against the wall, scattering the pieces everywhere. "How do I get this collar off?" I demand. "The bu-button in the control room. It turns off all th-the collars. "He stutters. "Take me to it, and I won't run you through when my fangs come back." I reason, grabbing him by his shirt and pulling him towards the door. He hesitantly unlocks my cell door and I follow him to an expensive looking room. "This is it." He whispers. "Type the passcode, Bill." I order. With some threatening, Bill finally types the passcode, and the glass around the button pulls back. I'm about to push it when I withdraw my hand. A slight flicker on the button makes me laugh. "They think we mutants are stupid. You press the button. It only works if a commanding officer presses it; if I were to press it, the whole entire place would lock down." Bill looks disappointed that I figured out the puzzle and presses it. Nothing happens; I don't feel my power resurfacing or my tail and ears showing. "You lied to me." I growl and kick Bill into the wall. He tries to run but my leg springs out, my foot pressing into his throat. "He didn't lie, dear." I turn my head and see HIM. "Bill Machin truly thought that the button would work, and it would have, if I hadn't had disabled it. Truth be told, you've been through six guards in the last month; your ability to escape interested me, so I decided, if Jade can pass my little test, I will give her the honor of being the subject of my experiment." He finishes. "So, this has all been a test? You know I don't like being fucked with, Stryker." I growl. "Please stop swearing. Your mother wouldn't like it." He snaps. "But you're sure she would just love what you're doing to your own children?" I snap back. "You are not my child." He tells me. "I know, you've told me that for seventeen years, Dad." I huff. "Restrain Weapon X1." Dad orders and men pour into the room. I don't try to resist, it would be pointless. I follow him to the starting point of a wild adventure and raging romance unknowingly.
