Inside a tunnel of a giant Energon mine, Nevada, Earth...
Present days...
Spectra didn't expect that sudden explosion in her dream. She inhaled and exhaled three times to calm down. She put her hand on her forehead while leaning against the wall.
"No..." she said with a sad tone, "It can't be... Tarn..."
Now Spectra knew it, the death of Tarn, of the one who cared about her more than everyone. A long time after their latest talk, she went to Earth in order to escape Megatron and his trail of destruction, thinking it was a safer place due to the distance between it and Cybertron. After that, she was waiting for Tarn for a long time, and always asked herself why he wasn't coming. And now she knew why.
He's dead...Spectra said to herself, He's dead and nothing will bring him back, nothing...
The depressive thoughts got to her and she started to cry, but...
"Did you hear that?" a mysterious voice said. Spectra stopped her crying. She got up, facing the direction where the voice came and changed her hands into her blasters.
"What? What am I supposed to hear?" another voice said.
"I've heard something that sounded like cries over here," the first voice continued, "Let's check to see..."
Spectra heard the footsteps approaching closer and closer, and she saw three Vehicons.
"Decepticons..." Spectra whispered.
"Well, well, well, look who's there..." the middle Vehicon said.
"If it isn't the blue Autobot of the Prime's team. And alone," the second one added.
"Yeah... She's white..." the third Vehicon noted.
"What?" Spectra said confused, "What are you talking about?"
"We," the middle vehicon dragged out his words "are talking about you, err...What's her name again?" he asked one of the two other Vehicons.
"I think it's Arcee."
"Uh-hum!" Spectra abruptly said, "I don't know who you are talking about, but I'm not her!"
"Yeah, yeah, sure!" the Vehicon in the middle said, "You can lie as long as you can!"
"I'm not-!" She was cut off as a GroundBridge appeared behind the three Vehicons.
"Autobots!" one of the three Vehicon screamed.
Blasts were shot from the GroundBridge, killing the three Vehicons, at the same time that Optimus Prime, Bulkhead, Arcee, Bumblebee, Smokescreen and Wheeljack appear. Spectra stepped back several times.
"Wow," Wheeljack said, "that's a giant Energon mine."
"Hey!" Smokescreen said as he spotted Spectra, "who's she?"
Spectra went speechless for a moment but retook her defensive pose.
"Wow, wow, wow," Wheeljack tried to placate her, "Take it easy, we don't want to hurt you."
"You already did." Spectra growled, not at all interested in keeping the exchange diplomatic.
"What?"Arcee was perplexed
"You killed my best friend,"  Spectra bited out.
"Wh-What are you talking about?"Smokescreen said, as he turned to address the other Autobots, "We never killed anyone, did we?"
"If you're excluding Makeshift and lots of Vehicons... no, we didn't," Arcee deadpanned, "But who was your best friend?" she inquired nonetheless.
Spectra thought for a while pondering if it was safe to give away her friend's name to his killers, even though he was no longer alive. She didn't know where their loyalties lied and could be putting herself in danger. "Tarn," she ultimately replies
"What?!" All the Autobots, except for Optimus, exclaimed
"Tarn..." Optimus repeated the name under his breath.
"But- How can he even be your best friend?" the surprise made Ultra Magnus' voice rise comically high, "He's a heartless murderer!"
"Not at all," Spectra sighed heavily, "We have been best friends since we met each other. And what you did was to kill him! You are the heartless murderers!"
"You dare-!" Ultra Magnus didn't get to finish his sentence, before being shot by Spectra's blasters.
She stroke Optimus in the chest, pushing him. Bulkhead attempted to attack her, but she activated her intangible device to pass through him and deactivated it to kick Bulkhead from behind. She repeated the same strategy to Smokescreen and Wheeljack. Bumblebee attempted to shoot at her, but she dodged his blasts and knocked Bee down. She turned back and aimed her blasters to Arcee, who was pointing her own blasters at Spectra.
"That was impressive," Arcee admitted, "You're very skilled, just like me."
"Perhaps the fact that I've beaten all your 'buddies' means that I can also beat you," Spectra snarled.
"We'll see," Arcee took on a fighting pose, "And this time, no phasing through."
"As you wish." Spectra replied.
