Breach!

We pull underneath the Berlin Task Force headquarters and the van doors open up. Steve exits first and offers me his hand to help me down. I look over and see Bucky being unloaded from the armored car, strapped down like a dangerous animal. We walk, hand-in-hand over to Sharon Carter and a man in a well-tailored suit. "What's gonna happen to him?" Steve asks.

"Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition." The man answers.

"This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander." Sharon introduces.

"What about a lawyer?" Steve asks.

"Lawyer. That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. We'll write you a receipt." He tells the armed guards standing behind him. They look at me expectantly as two others grab the shield and the wing suit.

"I'd offer you mine but seeing as how I can't detach my hands from my body, you're going to have to make do with the fact that I can't use my powers right now."

"I better not look out the window and see anybody flying around in that." Sam says as they lead us inside. Steve turns back to look at Bucky.

"You and I need to talk later." I whisper to him. If I hadn't been looking directly at him I would've missed the nod.

"You'll be provided with an office instead of a cell. Now, do me a favor, stay in it?" Ross informs us as he leads us through the agency.

"I don't intend on going anywhere." T'Challa says.

I groan as I see Nat walking towards us, already preparing myself for the lecture that's going to follow, whether it's from her or Dad. "For the record, this is what making things worse looks like." She tells us.

"He's alive." Steve states bluntly.

"And if it had been up to the CIA, he'd have been shot on sight." I comment under my breath.

"No." I hear Dad say and I watch as he steps out of a conference room. "Romania was not Accords-sanctioned. Colonel Rhodes is supervising cleanup."

"Try not to break anything while we fix this." Nat says as she heads over to Dad.

"I don't like this." I whisper to Steve.

"What?"

"Nat and my dad on the same side."

"Consequences? You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that because I just said it. Anything else? Thank you, sir." Dad says before hanging up.

"Consequences?" Steve asks.

"Secretary Ross wants the three of you prosecuted. Had to give him something."

"I'm not getting that shield back, am I?"

"Technically, it's the government's property. Wings too." Nat says.

"That's cold." Sam comments.

"Warmer than jail." Dad says before pulling me along with him. I look helplessly back at Steve before we round a corner.

"What about my hands, are they government property now too?" He sighs and grabs a key from his pocket, dismantling the cuffs. "I don't know how you can look at yourself in the mirror knowing that you designed something that could only be used on your daughter and a girl who's already suffered enough. Seriously? Do you even care how it felt to wake up with these on my wrists, and to see my father's company stamped on the side? Do you even care? Or are you that laden with guilt for the deaths of other people's children that you don't give a damn about your own?" I ask, rubbing my wrists before I turn and head back to the conference room that Steve's in.

"Everything ok?" He asks.

"Just peachy."

"You got the cuffs removed."

"Yeah, but don't expect me to be helping with any big or grand escape. They were dampening my powers. It's going to take a bit for it to wear off."

"I think we're stuck here for the long haul."

"Great." Before we could continue further, Dad walks back in.

"Hey, you wanna see something cool?" He's holding a small rectangular box. "I pulled something from Dad's archives. Felt timely." I move towards the door, suddenly feeling caged, like all the air around us was getting sucked out of the room.

I lean against the window, trying to drown out the conversation as the pressure in my head kept building. I close my eyes and flashes of fighting, of giants and bright colors, an empty feeling, followed by loneliness and then, at the end of it all, a bearded Steve, with his hair grown out, staring at me like I was the only thing tying him to this planet.

I shake my head, clearing myself of whatever that was as Dad and Steve's voices start to raise. "I'd file a motion to have you, Myra and Wanda reinstated..."

"What?" I ask, concern for Wanda pulling me back into the conversation.

"Wanda? What about Wanda?"

"She's fine. She's confined to the compound, currently. Vision's keeping her company."

I blow air through my nose, pinching the bridge of it as Steve starts to get visibly angry. "Oh, God, Tony. Every time I think you see things the right way..." Steve starts to say.

"You can't keep her prisoner there. You don't know what it's like, living with a power that's stronger than you." I add.

"It's 100 acres with a lap pool. It's got a screening room. There are worse ways to protect people."

"That's not protection. That's a gilded cage."

"Protection? Is that how you see this? This is protection? It's internment, Tony."

"She's not a US citizen. And they don't grant visas to weapons of mass destruction."

"You've got to be shitting me." I say, throwing my arms up in the air. "That's how they see her? Well then, update my birth certificate, driver's license, passport, and anything else that you can think of. Because I'm with Wanda. I have her powers but because I was lucky enough to be born with the Stark DNA, I get better treatment. Forget it." I walk out of the door, looking around before heading out.

...

I'm heading back to the conference room when all the lights in the agency go out, save for the red emergency ones. My hands start to glow and I sigh in relief. I watch Sam and Steve run off but before I can run after them, I'm pulled into an office. "I need you to stay here." Dad pleads with me. I make to run out but he locks me in the office before running off.

"You've gotta be kidding me." I say, hitting the door. The wood buckles and my powers dance around my fingers before I hit it again and it breaks, falling to the ground. "Boo-yah!" I don't take too long to celebrate before heading out to find everyone.

I find Dad fighting against Bucky in a covered courtyard. Bucky knocks him to the ground and looks like he's going in for the kill. I use my powers to push him to the side and run at him, punching him in the abdomen. He stumbles back and I use his distraction to hit him with a particularly powerful blast. Nat and Sharon descend on us and the 3 of us take him on at once.

Bucky throws Sharon into me and we both fly back against the cement wall. "Are you ok?" I ask her. She nods but I can tell she's dazed. T'Challa comes in next and leads him away from us. "Let's go get you checked out." I help her up and we head over to medical, waiting to hear how things turn out.
