With shaky fingers, Wang Yi hung up the telephone line, then his eyes glazed outside the door of the military base's office, over his medic's soldier, sitting patiently on the waiting bench while skimming over Mr. Ma and Son, a fiction novel he came across lying on the office shelves earlier.
A hint of a smile crept up on Yi's face; his lover was sexier wearing spectacles. And though he might've smiled a bit longer, he couldn't help the sickening feeling creeping up on his insides, filling him with fear. His father had called... Or, his father's secretary, to be precise. The woman's voice was sunshine; laughing through the telephone line, asking him about his troubles in the base. However, then the laughter in her voice died down, and she informed him his father sought his presence in Kunming, Yunnan province; a new location, Wang Yanzhen was staying.
In all his years on the frontline, Wang Yanzhen never sought the need to disrupt his duties. It must've been of importance: There were issues concerning the Japanese invasion of Chinese territory since the Japanese were tiptoeing across China over the months. Or... It must've been he figured out about Yi's immoral relationship with Xiao Fang.
When Xiao Fang glanced up from the book, smiling at him with all his teeth, interrupting his thoughts with happiness, Yi nodded at his lover. Still, his fears only grew.
If Wang Yanzhen truly got information about his relationship with another man, he was frightened about what his father might do to Xiao Fang, and to him.
Growing up, he had always been the perfect child.
He often sat straight, combed his hair neatly by himself, and kept his clothes wrinkled-free. He didn't get to play with the other children. However, he used to watch them from outside his bedroom window while he studied whenever they play, laughing — happy. He ate his dinner with dignity, not a crumb on his face afterward. And though he liked chocolates — eating them until his tooth rotted — he didn't dare touch any at the table whenever his father took him out to private events... Too afraid. He had perfect grades, though. His teachers loved him... And so did his father's friends. The adults loved him... The children his age ignored him and thought he was a snob.
He wasn't a snob; he was a perfect child.
He wasn't perfect anymore, though.
Now, he was an abomination, a sinner, immoral.
"Yi," Xiao Fang's voice dragged out, waving him over to go outside. "Are you done?"
Xiao Fang's eyes were glistening with mischief, and Yi's mouth watered. "I'm done," he answered. "Work is done."
"Then..." Xiao Fang got off the bench, eyeing him temptingly. "You want to..." He pointed a finger at the top floor. "Go to your... Room?"
"And what do you want to do there?" Yi's face lit up before he quirked an eyebrow at his older lover. It seemed since the night they made love together; Xiao Fang couldn't get his fingers off him. He wasn't complaining, though. He, too, might've become a bit insatiable. "Do you want to..."
Xiao Fangscrunched up his face. "Are you going, or not?" he pouted.
Yi straightened his shoulders before getting up from the chair; deciding it might be better to break the news of his departure to his older lover in a more comfortable environment.
"I'm coming, Fang-ge," he said.

They were on the bed inside the dorm room. While Xiao Fang lay on his back, his head twisted awkwardly to cushion the younger man's lap, Yi sat; his legs stretched out, his back braced against the headboard while he worked his fingers inside of his lover's hair, massaging it gently. "I have to go away for a couple of days," he said before he bent down, kissing the soft skin in the crock of Xiao Fang's neck. "It won't be for long... Maybe a week at most."
