“Totoo ba ang sirena? baka naman edit lang ‘yan.”
“Sirena haha, kathang isip lang ‘yan masyado kayong paniwalain!”
“Hahaha kakabasa niyo ‘yan ng fairytail books, sirena sirena!”
“hindi naman totoo ang sirena, alamat lang ‘yan eh!”
Iyan ang mga comment ng mga estudyante ko pagkatapos kong ipakita sa kanila ang isang picture ng isang sirena, I smiled at them and off my presentation. I sighed before to speak.
“Do all of you really not believe in mermaids?” I asked them seriously, they glared at each other questionally.
“Hindi po.”
“Wala namang pruweba na totoo ang mga sirena eh.”
They answered, I smiled at them and sat on my chair.
“Then let me tell you a story about mermaids and a human.” I said and smiled at them, they nodded and waited for what I'm about to say
“There‘s a mermaid named Aqua, she‘s the princess of the sea, so dahil siya ang prinsesa ng dagat tungkulin niyang gampanan ang trabaho niya. At iyon ay ang pagpa pakasal sa anak ng hari ng mga mermans, kailangan niyang gawin iyon upang mapanatili ang magandang relasyon ng mga mermans at mermaids.” I started with a smirk on my lips, and they remained silent.
“But Aqua, didn‘t want to do her job, ayaw niyang pakasalan ang lalaking hindi naman niya mahal, so she decided to leave the water, she go to far away land and start her new life sa mundo ng mga tao.” I stopped for a second and looked at them who‘s seriously listening to me.
“And then Aqua met Alvin, who was brokenhearted that time, ayaw makipag usap kahit kanino, ayaw makipag kaibiga but when he saw Aqua. nabighani ito at nabuhayan ng loob, and after a weeks they became friends until they fall in love with each other. years have passed they got married at nagbunga ang pagmamahalan nila ng isang magandang babae, namuhay ng tahimik at masaya kasama ang nag-iisa nilang anak.” happily said asI continued.
“But happy ending doesn‘t exist in Aqua and Alvin‘s Love story, why? after five months, Aqua‘s father found her and because of his anger he got killled Alvin, at hindi ‘yon nakayanan ni Aqua, ilang araw ang lumipas namatay din siya.” a sad smile curved on my face and all I heard was gasp in the four sides of our room.
“Nasaan na po yung anak?” One of my student asked.
“Ang anak nila ay nabuhay kasama ang mga magulang ni Alvin, nabuhay ang anak nila nang hindi manlang sila nakita at sa istorya lamang nito sila nakilala.” I answered.
“Totoo po ba ‘yan ma‘am, saan po ba nanggaling ang story na ‘yan?” one of my student fiercely asked.
“Sa a-akin.” they all went silent like I was not really telling the truth. suddenly a formed of ʻOʼ appeared on their lips.
“Yes, I‘m the daughter of Aqua and Alvin, The daughter of mermaid and a human, and I am a half mermaid and a human.”
“Now tell me, does all of you still not believe in mermaids?” I asked them, but they all still in silent.
